Hi All,

I am trying to work out if it is worth having a day or two in Houston to see the Johnson Space Centre?

I am flying from Toronto to BNE on a P/Econ RTW-like discount fare, and was only going to do a short/medium layover in Houston at the airport before getting an ANZ flight to BNE.

What are people's views of the JSC? Worth it??

Last year I did the two Space museums in Washington DC and the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida - so have I seen all that is worth seeing?

I am mainly interested in the Apollo Programme and that which went before it.

Does JSC have anything much more to justify a stopover?

Or do I just have a refresher layover in the Airport, before coming home?

TIA

JSC has Mission Control.
All planning and training is done here, then launched at KSC, then control comes back to here for the mission.

You can see mission control, they still run the ISS. there is a Rocket Garden (all types of old rockets and engines), and the Astronaut training complex, options of meeting Astronauts, watching them train etc, (if there is a mission on) there are mock ups of future missions and an entire old Saturn V Rocket as well as a museum bit.

Also there is McDonald's Spaceburger at the door. Normal Maccas but has Astronaut on the roof.

I would do it if you have time and an interest.
It is the only reason I went to Houston.

The centre is about 20 miles Sth of the Airport, big freeways all the way IIRC.
I too have done the Smithsonian, Udvar Hazy and KSC.
