What is an acceptable hotel valet parking fee for an overnight stay?

I was charged $29 at the Crowne Plaza in Adelaide only to discover next day a large parking station around the corner.

Thanks

Hmmm. I'm staying at the Crowne Plaza Adelaide on Friday so I'll watch out for this. I think the usual fee in Australia is around $25 to $30 per night, though some of the better hotels (and probably some of the worst) don't charge for valet parking. I think $29 is a bit high for Adelaide though...

Valet parking varies by city obviously and I find its usually $10-15 more than self park.

As a comparison, the Hilton is $28, the IC is $30, the Stamford is $22, and a closer hotel, the Majestic Garden is $25.50. You also have to remember that multiple in out no extra charge for valet, where as park yourself is often a fee per entry.

The worst I have seen is the IC Melbourne at $50, when staying there I find the short walk from the $6 Crown Casino car park quite pleasing in the warmer months! The CP Newcastle is also a PITA as there is no real self parking and they take forever!

Downtown San Francisco at the Hyatt a couple of years back it was $60. Per night.

The only valet parking I find reasonable is the free kind. Especially when the hotel gives you no self parking option.

Hilton Brisbane is almost $50 per night (especially when they add on the CC fee....)
Hilton Perth is almost $40 as well.
CPlaza Darwin and Canberra can be is a bit steep

Hilton Adelaide, Hyatt Perth, & Park Hyatt Melbourne/Canberra are reasonable however you need to consider the location of the hotel as well

I paid $35 at the Park Hyatt Sydney over the long weekend (all they got out of me on an award night :) ), and thought it ok for Sydney.

I think it is pretty reasonable as the self pay parking station would probably cost that or more if parking over night.

The bent St car park is $17 for more than 4 hours, closes at midnight. Suspect a next day exit would be $17 + $17 if after 10AM. I use it when I go to visit Node.

Indeed. I was thinking of the council car park on rundle st, which would price out to 6 or 8 hours. The council car park in Wyatt st is $12 for 3 hours.

So bent st would be a good option

Cheap to Sydney.
Some CBD parking stations now hit $60 after 4 hrs.

PH at $35 is good.
Blue at wharf is $40
