Months ago I booked a 7 night stay at one of the Accor hotels (Grand Mercure apartments, Bargara, Queensland) I am here now and I have discovered the hotel is no longer part of the Accor group. New ownerhip took over day 2 of my stay. I asked the new owners what would happen with points and Status points and they said I would get 1 night's worth. Has anyone else experienced this? I was not notified about the ownership change prior to arriving or on arrival. I am going to take it up with Accor Plus but I was just wondering if anyone else has come across this and what was their experience.
TIA.

Did you book direct with Accor? If that's a yes then you should receive points, stay night credits and whatever benefits are associated with your status. If that's not the case I'd take that up with Accor, since you booked an Accor property via their platform and they prominently advertise this as being a benefit when booking:

I did book through the Accor website. The new hotel owners contacted Accor on my behalf and the answer was no I wouldn’t get them. I have since contacted Accor and they’ve suggested I wait the 7 days and if I don’t get them, to contact them again. tbh I’m losing trust in the brand. We spent a decent amount for the 2 bedroom apartment and shouldn’t have to be chasing them up.

A minor thing but no welcome drink at that hotel cause it wasn’t Accor even though it was the day I checked in. Staying at another Accor for 2 nights now and the welcome drink was a bottle of water. If I welcomed someone with a bottle of water at my place, I’d get it tipped over me.

Take a deep breath and hold on. Let's wait the 7 days and see what shows up on your Accor account. In the worse case you'll file a missing claim for the points/nights stay credit and they'll give you what's missing. After all, you've got the receipt for your booking with Accor.

Just to clarify the welcome drink bit, that's not a bottle of water. It is a paper voucher they hand you which you can then use at the restaurant/bar at the property to get something nice. This is usually packed inside the little envelope thing that contains your key card. If you check-in and don't receive such a card (but have Accor status) simply remind them of your status (and the voucher) and they should give you one. Remember, not all receptionist are aware of your status and what you are entitled to. Sometimes management has put aside a special envelope with your name on it and the clerk needs to look for it (and that contains everything). Yes it is annoying but I would encourage you to stay at a Marriott or IHG property and tell me if you don't need to "remind" the front desk of such things.

The bottles of water I'm guessing were either in your room or in the fridge in your room are the "welcome gift". Not much of a gift if you ask me, particularly if you hold Platinum status but it happens.

For your reference (and my indulgence) here are what some of these vouchers look like:

These can be turned into stuff like this:

Thanks for the photos and yes
I’ve seen them and had those style of welcome drinks. When I checked in the guy tolld me my welcome drink was in the fridge and when we got to the room there was a welcomed card saying my welcome drinks were chilling in the fridge. When I open the fridge it was a bottle of Perrier water.
