Hello all... I was wondering if anyone could give me the name of the hotel on the rocks in Sydney under the bridge and what the cost would be apporx for a night there?

We will be there later on this month and was wondering if staying there would be good or not?

I believe the hotel is the Park Hyatt Sydney.

Never stayed there, but know it's normally a pretty exy rate.

I'm not overly familiar with Sydney but you maybe thinking of the Park Hyatt. I've never stayed there but it does look to be an exceptional hotel.

If you mean the hotel on the foreshore at Dawes Point looking East towards the Opera House it is indeed the Park Hyatt. Their website quotes prices starting at $735.

About $100 cheaper if you book through Wotif.com.au ... :)

My recommendation is to download the Qantas Holidays CityBreaks brochure here: http://www.qantas.com.au/holidays/p...alian_City_Breaks_Holidays_brochure_08_09.pdf , Flick to Page 14 and have a look at the locations around where you want to stay.

Qantas Holidays don't show all hotels in an area, but they are very good for determining locations of different hotels. You'll have to ask later though if a hotel you choose has the appropriate views you want for your special trip.

The Shangri La Hotel is relatively close by on Harrington Street The Rocks...... quite good rates ~300 and nice views of the harbour if on a higher floor........

Otherwise, the elegant Four Seasons at CQ will do just fine for a similar price per night.

And for dinner, why not just go to Harbourside Kitchen & Bar @ the Park Hyatt.... very nice view unobstructed towards the Opera House.

It's been years since I've stayed there but I quite liked the Marriott Sydney Harbour; it used to be a Pen I think. I last stayed there in July 2004. Paid ~250 for the standard room and got a free upgrade to one with nice views of the Harbour and the Bridge. Didn't even have status with them, so I think the hotel was quite empty.

The hotel is adjacent to Circular Quay and you can be at the Rocks in under 10 mins.

If you want a great dinner whilst you are there - I would recommend Quay - and eat the Sea Pearls - not cheap though ;) ANd sometimes the view of the Opera House is obscured by the Cruise Liners ;)

I think the Shangri La is your best bet of a standard Hotel near the Rocks.

There is the Intercontinental at the other end of Circular Quay closer to the Botanic Gardens...

The Marriott at Circular Quay is not far away and can generally be found for under $300.

Thanks guys - i shall put it to the Jury and see what they decide...

Might even do a Mini TR just to flex my literary skills... Dont expect much tho!

I would endorse these comments. For a good gig and a friendly drink after the Harbourside Kitchen, try the Observer Hotel in George Street
