Hosties geting a tough time

When the disappointing attitude of some is that they are nothing but "trolley dollies", its no wonder that these unfortunate incidents happen. A little respect for the role that anyone plays in the grand scheme of things goes a long way.

It would be interesting to see with which airlines the sexual harrassment is occurring.

e.g I do not think people would be that game to sexually harrass a flight attendant in Australia. Or are they?

Conducted in partnership with the Hong Kong Flight Attendants Alliance (HKFAA) , the survey results are based on 392 responses to 9,000 questionnaires distributed between November 2013 and January 2014 among employees of the HKFAA's member airlines, including Cathay Pacific, Dragonair, British Airways and United Airlines.

Would be nice to see a split of the results, such as Cathay vs British vs United

Any flight involving tourist destinations (mostly OOL) tends to have a high proportion of "infrequent flyers". I wouldn't be surprised to see this happening on one of those routes.

a survey sample of 392 . I'd take the results with a grain/bag of salt.

I'm sure a mathematician would be able to assure us that a properly representative sample size of 392 would be considered valid enough to draw valid outcomes.

I'm not a mathematician, but I can assure you there are hugely-popular, and very rigorous, statistical methods that work best with sample sizes around the 200-275 mark.

If you survey the wrong suburb or even the wrong street in some suburbs then results can be badly skewed.

Absolutely! Getting a "representative" sample is at the heart of any questionnaire/survey. No mathematical abracadabra can fix a badly-chosen sample.

A sample may or may not be badly chosen depending on any desired trend with the results.

I see what you mean... a lot of surveys are "engineered" to confirm a perceived/desired outcome, but pure science does not/should not have any "desired trend with the results".

392 out of 9000 surveyors responded. I would hazzard a guess that the one's that didn't feel harassed didn't bother with the survey.

Response rate of ~4%-5% is inline with current industry best practices, so no issues there. I guess you are right in that only people who have something to complain about are the ones keen on filling out surveys. But that is true of any customer satisfaction survey... The only place I have seen people actively providing positive feedback upon receiving good service is in the U.S; people in most other cultures only squeak when oil is needed...
