Honors Mystery Bonus on Purchasing Points until May 8th 2023

100% also looks like the 80k cap has been removed? I can buy up to 240k points now

Worth buying? Last week I stayed at Hilton Tel Aviv which cost a whopping USD 695 for the cheapest room or 80K pts....I chose the latter

Depends, I have a specific stay in mind and know ill save money by using the points. I wouldn’t buy them speculatively just to boost your balance.

I think as per Kpc’s post there can be value, most of the blogs put value at .5-.6 US cents but note you can get much better value in certain instances (I certainly have) but agree best to not do speculatively.

How do you access this promotion? Did you receive an email
Got a promotional email about this offer.

I think points can be best used when there are big events on and the usual rates are very high, but some Hilton hotels would have a soft cap on the standard room award rates like 50k on Doubletrees, or 60k on some Hiltons and thats where it can be put into good use.

Or waiving the resort fees + taxes especially for some US hotels...

You can also sign up to onemileatatime or LoyaltyLobby… both will send you daily updates that include hotel points offers. I have never received an offer by email yet!
I don’t recall receiving an email for this one (but I have in the past) nor did I see it mentioned on LL but I did find it in My Offers (100% bonus and 240k+240k for US$2,400). Pity about the exchange rate but anyone planning a U.S visit should do the math. Room rates are out of control at the moment.

I only got 90%! Ripped off.

They seem desperate - last double points offer only expired first week of March.

Points can be good value sometimes but usually not - most use dynamic pricing now and it's rare for premium rooms to be good value.

I had a stockpile of points that I redeemed at a number of hotels for my next two trips, I made an excel table of the cash rate for the hotels I wanted and the points required, and just used my points on the ones that had the best value. I think a couple exceeded 0.5c/point but most were pretty much bang on the 0.5c or slightly worse.

Not bad for points you got from earning (I did a month of travel with double points last year) but it probably wouldn't make sense to buy them.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Maybe a top up if it made the difference between getting 5th night free….

Well I'm eating my words now...

Had some spare time today, so did a spreadsheet up of my 30 stays this year at Hilton Properties - considering booked price, current cash price and current points price.

I managed to find some really good points deals (and reverse - one of my existing points bookings for 100K points was available for US$300) - so with some switching around, cancelling, and buying 60K points (excluding bonus) - I've saved myself over US$1,000 from the changes I made - including the cost of the extra points.

Also upgraded a few to better brands (ie Hilton instead of Garden Inn) and better locations. Was about 3 hours worth of work all up but definitely worth it (something I like to do every few months). Also a good time to do it, AUD/USD rate is better than it's been for a while.

I think my best one was Singapore HGI - 2 nights 60K instead of S$651 (USD 0.8c/point)
