Hong Kong in 2 days - a beginner's guide

It's an on-again, off-again type of trip where I was not sure if I am going until a few days out.

I planned to do some research beforehand but works overwhelmed me, so here I am grovelling for tips.

Where to go ?

What to see ?

Where to enjoy a Chinese meal ?

Only 48 hrs on the ground !

Somewhere authentic old-world Chinese atmosphere / foods would be nice rather than a 3-hatted Michelin place.

But, really, beggars cannot be choosers so any tips would be most appreciated.

Looks like the hotel is located in Hung Hom (they probably say its Tsim Sha Tsui to be able to charge more...).

Not exactly a tourist hotspot but a fine base to start off, you'll be able to take a taxi very easily from there to Hong Kong island via the Cross Harbor Tunnel.

Also Hung Hom station connects to the New Territories if you fancy getting out of the city and enjoying some of the greener side of Hong Kong in places like Sai Kung and Clearwater Bay.

Spend 2 days in hong kong recently with the family and did the hop-on hop-off thing. It was good value (I booked it through viator) and had lots of extras included. I really liked the quiet side of Hong Kong Island (Aberdeen/Stanley I think..) . I didn't eat there so for all I know its a tourist rip-off, but the Jumbo floating restaurant seemed to come up a bit. It certainly looked impressive !

as yohy?! mentioned, it's within a walking distance of the Hung Hom MTR station, from there you can get to anywhere you'd like, especially the city center. I would definitely go to Victoria Peak and Causeway Bay which is a very busy area and touristic. The HK walk of fame also is a good spot.

I gathered some ideas from here and from the posts referred to by Serfty upthread.

I'm far less confused than I was two days ago.

At least now I know where Kowloon / Mong Kok are.

Will apply for e-channel today

Had reservations made at The Chairman (lunch) and Lung Kung Heen (dinner).

Know about Kowloon check in

Will try Tim Ho Wan dim sum tomorrow and Tsai Chai Kee wonton / Yung Kee roast duck tonight.

Should that be Lung King Heen ? If so it's exceptional as it Tim Ho.....very different but both very good!
