True, but QF check in is at Row J which is just at the North entrance. However the rule is always go south after immigration and head for the Wing or the Pier :D!

Ric

Or just fly on CX for an overall better experience :p

Well I finally got around to applying for the HKFV card some weeks ago, but the other half is coming with me on my next trips to HKG so I'd have to join the pleb queue anyway.

QF009,

If you have received the card, take the other half along with you to the HHKIA FV line. The lady there will scan your card and just tell her that your other half is with you......should not be a problem at all. done that many times with travelling companions.

Ric

Ric,

What would happen after you've told them that "she's with me". Would they let her through Immigration quickly or something?

I went to Hong Kong last time and I went though first and met with my girlfriend while collecting luggage.

Twice in/out of HKIA mrssimongr came along with me in the HKIAFV lane without any questions asked.

cacbm,

simongr is correct....no questions asked!
When travelling by myself, I use the E-Channel now.

cheers,

Ric

On arrival into HKG today I lined up for the APEC line and the enrollment officer for the HK Frequent Visitor programme pointed out that as a APEC BT card holder, I could get a Frequent Visitor card and shorten my queues even more - so I did! In fact it isn't a card at all, just a bar code sticker on the back of my passport (but that is because I have a APEC card). I even used the Frequent Visitor barcode on checking back in (VN wouldn't let me take two carry ons so I had to collect one bag at HKG and clear customs then check in again for the CX flight home - with two carry ons ;))

For outgoing from HKG, all I had to do was insert my passport into the reader (to read the barcode) then scan my index finger and I was through - probably 15 seconds all up. :D

Shiny new HKIA FVC came in the mail today, just in time for our Easter trip. :)

V. nice - enjoy your shorter queue and looking down on the masses :)

Well, finally got to use the FVC with mixed success...

No worries on entry -Mr QF009 got to use the FVC lane with me. Zero queue. Did the echannel rego painlessly after having my passport stamped.

On departure - he got turned away by one of the FVC lane bouncers. I was going to follow him but was told by said bouncer to stay where I was. And in any case, as the agent manning the FVC counter seemed to be rather slow, Mr QF009 cleared passport control before me. And this is with the hoi polloi queue a person or 2 longer than the FVC line which only had 1 person ahead of me.:oops::D

Never seen them, I use a HKID when I enter as I used to love there. the worst part is being stuck behind an old person who doesn't follow the instructions about putting their thumb on the scanner.
