Dinner at Atmosphere by Frogmore Creek. Restaurent is in the Macq01 hotel, so great if you're staying there. We went the stealth option with matched wines. All the wines were Frogmore Creek wines. The sparkling was seriously good and great value for money. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Location, service and everything about it was excellent. I would highly recommend if this is your thing.

Sparkling wine that's seriously good, but not from the Champagne reigion, are you allowed to say that on AFF?

Oh, my. they have gone all out haven't they? I thought the original one out at Frogmore Creek was arty, but as long as there's a decent filling dinner in there (that is, you don't feel like going out for a burger afterwards), I'd love to give it a go.

We will definitely be having dinner there in 17 sleeps ! ;)

After the first few dishes you do wonder how full you'll be at the end. Fear not! So much food!

They do have two cheaper/smaller detestation options.

Some further dining feedback.

Arriving in Hobart around 5pm and 30 degrees, we went to The Glass House for a drink before the sunset. Fantastic spot. The staff know there drinks and with views like the picture below, you can't go wrong. We felt like steak for dinner and were about to go to The Ball & Chain, but luckily discussed this with a couple of the staff at The Glass House. 15 years ago, it was the place. They suggested we go next door to Rockwall Bar + Grill Restaurant, Hobart Tasmania | Restaurant offering sophisticated or casual dining and we were not disappointed! We were pretty lucky to get a table just walking in on a Wednesday night. They talked me into having the coffee rub on my steak and it did not disappoint.

The following night we wanted something more casual and went to Fish Frenzy. Avoid this place. Food was pretty average.

The next night we felt like pizza and decided on Amici Italian Restaurant North Hobart Pizza was pretty decent. The place was pumping. Service was casual if not a little off. Didn't really bother us as we just had pizza. We needed to book ahead here on a Friday night.

The final night was Frogmore Creek which was already covered. Excellent!

After a recommendation here, we decided to go to Russell Falls and roughly followed the route shown here Derwent Valley Day Drive Itinerary | Tasmania Travel Itineraries in order to take the scenic route.

We stopped for a light lunch at The Possum Shed which is highly recommended. Food was fantastic and such a pretty spot. If it wasn't drizzling, we would have sat outside, but instead put up with this view.

Onwards to Russell Falls we hiked to see three of the falls. All up it took us about two hours and was a relatively easy hike. Beautiful scenery.

On the way back, the very short detour to Pulpit Rock Lookout is a must...unless you dislike the below view :)

MONA. We decided on the ferry and to go the posh pit option. This also includes a Moorila vineyard tour, but to book the tour, you need to actually call up after booking your MONA tickets online. The following pictures give you some idea of the posh pit area of the ferry. I didn't care much for the wines on offer and stuck to beer. Coffee, soft drinks etc were also available. The canapés were pretty good.

Now I don't really understand or "get" art. I do find the National Gallery in Canberra interesting though. The "Gallery of Everything" exhibit was a bit naff. I spent my time poo-pooing most things and annoying MrsDaver6. The remainder of MONA was pretty cool with some very cool "light and sound" kinda of exhibits. The toilets impressed me too with some art. Was a projection onto the floor.

The best part of MONA...

The actual building itself is also very cool. Best of all, the coughtails at the coughtail bar (Void Bar) were excellent. And truffle crisps, yes please!

The winery tour was interesting and got to try some of the other Moorilla wines. We also visited the tasting area of the winery where we tried everything, including some wines not on tasting. Excellent service. The restaurant looks great and the wine list was a little longer than the bible (both testaments).

All in all, a brilliant day. Don't drive, take the ferry and go the posh pit option.

So glad you liked Russel Falls, its well worth the drive out there but we didnt know about the lookout so something for our next visit. :)

Wonder if the coffee rub is the one from Weston Farms (who run the Pigeon Hole cafe - which is excellent)? I brought some back and it's great on steak.
