HKG new lounge open

Based on reports I've read, the new HKG lounge overall appears to be superior to the old F lounge.

However, how hard is it for Qantas to provide a small dedicated space for F passengers and/or champagne. Imagine an offer of 'as an F passenger can I offer a glass of Vueve as. welcome drink!

I'll be in the new lounge on Friday evening prior to boarding QF98, however I will only be able to compare it to the old J lounge downstairs having never visited the former F lounge.

Well the dim sum is pretty good... Just came back from CX for a bite to eat and they came around with the trolley. A bit spicy for my liking but delicious all the same.

I flew through a couple of weeks ago now, and absolutely loved the new HK lounge.
Booked and flying F, I had a table reserved for me in the dining area and was served champagne (as opposed to the sparkling they had on display).
I was also served the daily dish (steak) and on request they brought me over some dim sum - I never did see the trolley though.
The staff made a big fuss, there was a "concierge" who looked after me and offered shoe shine and pressing (I did take advantage of the shoe shine).
Very different experience than most others in this thread have had by the sounds of it, but for me it was a HUGE improvement over the old F Lounge, and flying F they did make me feel special. Great job QF!

Now I feel cheated. Completely opposite experience to mine where my F cabin status wasn't even acknowledged. Good old consistent QF at it again.

... such as the Finnair Lounge in HEL, for instance. Its an 'open slather' lounge like QF's in SIN and HKG, but on showing your OW Emerald BP at the bar, you can have Champagne and top spirits. I heard there were other benefits as well, but I only took advantage of the Champagne.

I'm going to be a bit controversial here, but I found the new lounge to be quite underwhelming and impersonal. I actually think I preferred the old J lounge 'dungeon'. It somehow seemed more cosy. The new lounge feels like a warehouse. Also, prior to the bus to Sydney leaving, it was pretty crammed too.

Separate lounge for First customers? Not justified to spend money on a lounge that will be used by 2-3 people.

WP and above usually get access to QF 'F' lounges. So I think it might be more than "2-3 people". And I didn't see the word 'lounge' used.

I think they're referring to a F-only lounge, similar to BA's Concord Room.

Actually it is the other way around.

Those travelling First are able to access the lounge that was built for Platinum and above.

I actually like the aesthetics of the lounge, it has some nice different areas where you can seem to be able to have a conversation and not annoy people who want it to be quiet, and vice versa.

So I'm probably not the target audience of QF for this flight this time, but was underwhelmed with the lounge's food. Apparently the dimsum finishes at 1930 and after that there was only the buffet. I arrived at 9 - the buffet was all very western food in my opinion. I was looking for some nice dumplings, asian soup, etc

No it's a personal taste matter. The perception is certainly the case. Perceptions matter in this flash in a pan world

I was thinking more a dedicated 'small section' within the same lounge set aside for F (and possibly WP). Similar concept to TG lounge in HKG.
