Hi All,

In about a months time I am travelling HKG-KUL on MH Business class, with my QFF Platinum/Oneworld Emerald status entered.
Out of all the available OW lounges in HKG which would you recommend and which to avoid?

It depends to a certain extent from where you are departing. If high numbered gates (40 - 80) then I personally would probably opt for the Pier. yes it hasn't been refurb'd but it would be close to your gate. That is me though having transitted through HKG a lot so no need to enjoy a lounge. However given that the Wing has been rebuilt recently and if travelling from HKG (and not transitting) - I would be turning left after immigration and straight into the Wing.

I wouldn't go to the Cabin. I don't even want to think about Gate 16.

MH depart from a different terminal from QF/CX/JL and have their own lounge in that terninal (T2??). Its an ok lounge, aimed at people on a short-haul flight. If choosing to use the QF lounge, then allow plenty of time to transfer to the correct departure terminal and not that the MH departures will not be called from the QF lounge.

Thanks all! I am departing from HKG not transiting so will get to the airport plenty early, and always leave enough time to get to the gate.
Just checked yesterdays flight it departed T1 Gate 41.

Might try the Pier and QF F lounge then.

Sorry, I read it incorrectly and was thinking SIN at the time. Please ignore my comments as they do not apply to HKG

I really wouldn't bother with the QF F lounge. It is a good one or two glasses of champagne walk and really you won't get more enjoyment there.

Any of the lounges are fine depending on your personal preference.

To start with go to the lounge nearest your gate and if you have time then visit some of the other lounges.

The CX F lounges are nice but I do not like the waiter service for my drinks as I prefer self service and I can mix the drinks any way I want.

The QF F lounge is quite OK if you are over that way and it has some nice hot food choices and the atmosphere is a little better than the CX lounges as it is a little more western influence.

The cabin is OK but gets very crowded most of the time i have been around.

Without question you should be going to The Wing F lounge first - this is newly opened and is the highest standard of lounge available at HKG.

Depending on your gate on the day then either stopping by in The Cabin or The Pier depending on which is closer.

So if they are flying from 63 they should go to the pier and then track back to the wing and then back to gate 63?

No simongr.

If they have time they can visit as many lounges as they like within reason.

BTW I have done that walk only for the fact that I wanted to stretch the legs.

Some people offer lounge advice based on their own preference. eg. This champagne or that champange is available in that lounge and not in that lounge. This scotch is available in that lounge and not in that lounge. I prefer bottled beer which is only available in the QF Lounge. All much of a muchness.

Everyone's recommendation for a lounge comes with some personal bias and is not really indicative of the best lounge. I like to form my own opinion of a lounge not what someone on AFF has recommended.
