Hi there,

I'm flying AMS-BNE tomorrow with CX (J). Travelling with wife and young kid, previously I have used The Wing First Class lounge and used the big bathrooms there (I think they call them cabana's or something like that)... This time around I have an extra kid (so 2yo and 4mths). Will they let all four of us in based on my QF Platinum status?

Thx!

You have access to the Qantas lounge which will let the team in if they dont. But given they are all travelling J I doubt there will be an issue regardless.

The Wing F lounge is currently closed for refurbishments. There is an F section in the J lounge but that in itself is not much better than the QF F lounge. The alternative is the Pier with the big soft leather seats - only if it is close to your gate though.

There is also the G 16 lounge as well.

I see. Never been to the QF F lounge. May check it out depending on next departure gate. Thanks all.

The new wing J lounge is pretty special......last visit was Oct. We didn't bother going to Pier F this time as it isn't any better IMO.

When the new CX Wing F lounge opens (early next year) I'm punting that QF SYD F lounge will be knocked down a rung or two & has probably seen it's last major award!

QF F would be the way to go especially with kids - you would be right near the gate the QF flights depart from. Plenty of room, well stocked and the staff are quite helpful and willing to wait on you when it's not too busy.

The Wing F lounge is unlikely to be open before Chinese New Year in Feb 2013 (running behind schedule) unfortunately.

It is a cough lounge nowhere near where CX board. Even if it was close to boarding I would never suggest anyone go to the G16 lounge. There is also the cabin but I find it a bit warm. If the kids were older they might like the more futuristic seating but with small kids it wouldn't be that comfortable.

They are flying CX not QF.

When your travelling with two kids your priorities might be for quiet unpopular lounge, and its often close to the Brisbane departure for CX.

G16 is perfectly fine for a lounge, not flashy but has all the necessary facilities as well as a nice runway view.

And as mentioned is often not crowded at all.

Given teh G16 lounge is pretty much next door to the QF F lounge I would be taking the QF F lounge (noted though a longer walk to the gates around there).

@yohy?! I think we have very different expectations of a lounge or it has dramatically improved since I was there some time ago.

I was in the HKG QF J Lounge last week. The one where you take the escalator down to enter the lounge. Was fine, did start to fill up, but overall, a good lounge.

The QF F lounge will either be busy or closed, depending on which CX departure to Brisbane the OP took.

probably we do, i'm likely spoilt by using The Wing all the time that it doesn't phase me going to G16. i think the food has been brought to the same standard over the last couple of years though (which seems to mirror the sentiment I see on the CX FT forum).

That is good to know - last time I was there it was two minute noodles in styrofoam containers...

they do cook to order now for noodles and usually have dim sum available :)

CX let all of us in their First lounge which was good for showers and breakfast. The BNE flight was out of gate 1 so we used the QF First lounge for an hour or so, and were the only ones there! Nice wonton soup there by the way :)
