Looking once again to find a hotel in HKG, close to city, preferably on Kowloon side <$100 AUD. Will be for 1 person and must be close ish to MTR. Stayed at Regal Oriental last time and was really nice and hotel was awesome but it was a bit far from MTR. (and got 1000QFF points from it too).

Any suggestions? Would be for 3 nights.

Sorry if its in the wrong section.

Langham PLace at Mongkok. Its connected underground to the MTR, plus there are many food places on one level and a supermarket underground.

Thanks, but I found the cheapest rate to be 1400 HKD a night, which is double my budget.

Have recently stayed at Citadines Ashley near TSJ metro and airport bus with a ten min walk to the ferry. More like a one bedroom studio with kitchen if you want to use it. Have stayed there a few times recently and quite happy. Citadines Hongkong Ashley

Much better than other hotels I've stayed in the area. Book ahead for quite good prices.

Have you tried the Stamford in Mongkok, Dorsett Kowloon and Oriental Lander Hotel. All around the Kowloon area and realy nice hotels for under $100/night.

Most people know me I hate wasting money for just a room in a hotel....

I have stayed a few times at the Royal Plaza Hotel which is above the Mongkok East KCR station. Which makes it is very convenient for a day trip to Shenzhen. I am booked in for 2 nights in March for HK760 including breakfast.

I've also stayed at the Royal Plaza Hotel a few times and highly recommend it. Very nice hotel with large rooms (by HK standards) and a great gym/pool.

Location is hard to beat if you want to be based in Mong Kok and be close to the KCR.

What dates are you looking at, it makes a lot of difference.

Dates are May 9, 10, 11.

Priorities are free wireless/wired internet, room safe, clean, free btls of water, close to MTR, close to Sham Shui Po.

Size, pool, other fancy extras are not really needed.

Aiming to pay as little as possible. I've been looking on asiarooms.com so far - can get some decent deals on there. Royal Plaza hotel looks good, where did you book? Best price i get is $105pn with no brekky.

I usually book this hotel through hotelbook.com. I have just checked their price for your nights and it came up at HK$665 per night including breakfast. Sometimes we are offered a deal to upgrade to the club floor; it depends whether the club offerings suit your schedule. Not always worth the extra if you already have breakfast included.
The hotel is right next to a very large shopping centre. The KCR is directly below the hotel and that will take you to the new East TST KCR station in one direction or to Lo Wu (Luo Hu) in the other direction. Also you can walk under cover to the Mongkok MTR station in about 15 minutes. 2 stops on the MTR to Sham Sui Po.
I’m not sure about wi-fi. The rooms are surprisingly large.

To save starting another thread does anyone have any tips re restaurants in Kowloon?

I think its on the city side, but you could always try the super cheap michelin starred guy? (wow this post is pretty vague - but im sure someone will come up with specifics)
