Hey.

Hertz have some deals going with their mine equipped vehicles. Rough costs are $150 for a week with unlimited KMs. But I'm worried about how trashed these vehicles may be. I don't want one with a horrible clutch and ripped up seats. A 4wd twin cab may be very handy for exploring parts of WA and NT.

Does any one work in the mines and hire vehicles from hertz on a regular basis?

Thanks

All ours come from PCTR or RAW hire, we have about 200 or so. They are absolutely thrashed. We go through about 2 Hilux engines a month.

Hertz on the other hand tend to do more short term rental, a few days here and there and usually ex airport. This vehicle will be in pretty good nick, they rarely see the pit, stopping usually at mine site offices.

I thought mine equipped 4x4 came standard at some rental sites. Certainly the fleet at some airports didn't seem to contain anything else...

I was given one at ADL for some reason for a 5hr hire covered in flourescent bits and a large whip flag for a couple of site visits in Port Adelaide.

I think it was a Mitsubishi 4x4 with around 20000km's on it and was actually in pretty good nick.

Had a new-ish 4WD from Hertz in Paraburdoo earlier this week. Prado, 6 speed manual with cruise control. Very easy to drive and not trashed at all.

The hire company's have done some serious dough on their mining fleet with the downturn, not cheap to config one from new.
