Dear oz_mark,

The energy of Surfers, The style of Hilton.

Welcome to a new kind of indulgence in the heart of Surfers Paradise. Hilton Surfers Paradise brings five star sophistication to one of Australia’s most energetic cities. The resort style development consists of two spectacular curved towers rising above the city skyline.

The Boulevard Tower, comprising 134 residences managed by Hilton is due for completion in December, whilst the Orchid Tower, featuring a Hilton Hotel and boutique shopping mall, is due to be completed in 2011.

Accepting reservations from 20 Dec.

A friend recently posted on Facebook that as he was walking through Surfers he could see right into the toilets on the lower levels, so don’t book a city view room when the time comes… ;)

This bad boy has been proposed and dropped a few times. Thank goodness it's going to finally get up and running.

Maybe when it’s done the GC can be considered for a Do at last :p

Maybe I’ll have to postpone my BBQ till the accommodation is all sorted ;)

Maybe when it's done there'll be a decent chain hotel in the Gold Coast. All the other properties in chains are either old and need a refresh, or are plain boring (I'm looking at you, RACV Royal Pines!)

Then again, it's going to be a "managed by Hilton" property; not sure if this means a Hilton Hotel or something else. (The subtle effect of the branding has an effect on HHonors benefits when staying at the property).

Maybe Surfers should be added to the poll for the AFF meet in 2011:shock::mrgreen:

It's nice to see another Hilton property in Australia, but I'm not sure I will ever have a need to visit this location.

Well RACV was built a very long time ago… and they are actually improving every day. The top 3 floors are being renovated right now, there’s a crane perched on the top of the building… so there’s a big refresh here. I can’t say the same about the other big brands on the Gold Coast ;)

Nooo… to close to BNE for it to even be considered any time soon. That and the lack of flight options in.

RP when through a refurb three years ago, compared to what it was it has come a long way, but at the end of the day it lacks one thing - a beach!

And many of the properties on the beach lack a golf course :p

It’s just a different way to get skin cancer.

If it went through a refurb 3 years ago then it still looks damn boring.

To be fair, it probably shares the same kind of plain decor as its former Crowne Plaza owner, so there was no real incentive to do much better when RACV bought it over, especially as most are there for the golf course, not so much the resort itself.

CP never owned it, it was franchised, Morgan Stanley owned it until the fire sale owing to the odd sub prime issue. You can blame these folks for the look:

From memory the rooms were a lime green colour prior up until 07. I agree there is still room for improvement!

is there any discounts?
also does anyone knows if hilton going to have a big sales like this year in jan?

I was just looking on the Hilton Premium Club/Hilton Macquarie Forceyoutogetanother creditcard Club and it has this footnote for the new Hilton Surfers Paradise:
Please note, the Food and Beverage outlets and the hotel rooms located in the Orchid Tower are due to open in 2011. We welcome you to join us then to enjoy your 20% discount on food and beverage along with the use of your $99 Exclusive Rate Card.
My concern is there is no mention of the 20% discount applying to the best available rate, as with other Hilton properties (in the program). Does this mean the Club now turns into one of those where the benefits aren't consistent across properties and the 20% accommodation discount won't be available?

The Orchid Tower, which is the part of this “hotel” that is open, is really an apartment building. There is no restaurant and no Executive Lounge. We had a booking last weekend which we had to cancel but in the lead-up I exchanged emails with some of the hotel staff. They advised that they had been exempted from offering almost all HHonors benefits, such as the free breakfast when a property does not have an Exec Lounge and the late check-out, etc. About the only thing they did offer was free wi-fi.

I am going to hold off visiting until the main tower opens later this year which will (hopefully) mean a "fully featured” stay.

Plenty of Hiltons without executive lounges that still adhere to the program. I'll email Premium Club and post the reply.
