I'm looking at BKK Hua Hin and HAN over the Xmas New Year break and the Hilton prices are quite high. HAN is ok as I can get a booking through our HAN based corp travel people and average approx $150 a night but the other 2 locations are quite expensive.

My wants are BKK Dec 27 to 29, Hua Hin Dec 30 to Jan 3, HAN Jan 3, 6&7 (as I'm thinking Ha Long bay in between)

My question, is it likely Hilton will drop the rates in the next few months or am I better off advance purchase now for best available rate?

Unable to answer your specific question regarding rate changes, but beware the "compulsory " News Years Dinner than many Thai hotels try to charge you for.

Usually I find there is another sale on during Sep/Oct for the dates you're asking for...I'm waiting till then for better rates in KUL just after that time. Is there any Great Getaway specials still valid for any of the hotels? Some of the Asians places I just checked still have those sale rates available for those dates

Thanks, what are these codes for?

somebol & serfty

Thanks for the codes and explaining, the FT description by the Hilton employee eased my fear of trying the codes but :( nothing worked I could find to lower the prices. I have decided to book BKK & HAN and will wait for 3-4 months watching the Hua Hin prices

cheers

We spent 4 nights at a polo resort in Hua Hin in about '95 when our now 18YO was under 2 (the flight from hell). Had a great time, really enjoyed the the place, but it was a few years back now! I still remember said youngun, happily polishing off a coconut coughtail from the poolside table beside us when we weren't looking. I still cringe when I think of it!
