Hi All,

I didn't find a thread for this one, and know a few of you are fans of the existing HotP, so thought it newsworthy... feel free to move if it's better placed under Travel News! I received the below announcement from my Accor account manager late on Friday... seems HotP will soon be PotP!

Dear Valued Client

We are pleased to announce that Accor will take over management of Hilton On The Park Melbourne on the 1st of January 2015 and will be rebranded as
PULLMAN MELBOURNE ON THE PARK

Pullman Melbourne on the Park is an iconic property that is a ten minute walk from Melbourne’s CBD and a number of the city’s major attractions.
With 419 rooms the hotel has extensive facilities which include four food and beverage outlets, a swimming pool, fitness centre and Day Spa.

Conferencing facilities are also extensive with 3 Ballrooms, 2 Boardrooms and 9 meeting rooms.

Please ensure your systems are updated and the above is communicated to all relevant team members.

Thank you for your continued support of Accor and should you have any questions relating to the above please do not hesitate to contact your Accor Account Manager.
Kindest regards

ACCOR Australia Business Travel Team

Cheers.

Thanks for the info. My last stay there is later this week, not because it is becoming an Accor property, but because I am moving to Melbourne. Will be interesting to see if just one Hilton in town will push up prices at HSW. I suspect the effect will be marginal as the competition is all of the 4/5 star properties not just HOTP.

I enjoyed staying there as well and always received an upgrade to a relaxation suite.

Don't forget that Melbourne is getting a DT so we will still have two Hilton family hotels for mattress runs ;).

It's always a shame when a Hilton leaves the group. At least there are 2 more HH properties and also plenty of other decent hotels to choose from in MEL.

Nooo.....HOTP has great Govt rates, close to MCG, tennis center and eastern part of Melb CBD.:(:(:(

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

HotP was my favourite hotel in Melbourne by far. I loved the location and the upgrades. Never been a fan of HSW but haven't stayed there since becoming HHGold. Not good news.

Was the place for us to stay in MEL.Much closer to Victoria st and it's Vietnamese restaurants.

It wasn't so long ago people were down upon SPG because of it's lack of hotels in Australia. But now it has 3 in SYD,2 in MEL with another coming,1 in BNE with another coming and 1 in PER with 2 more in the pipeline.Only need to cover ADL and NZ now.

Wait until Jessica Tam finds out.
I was given a bit of notice, although had to keep it to myself until it was announced publicly.

It is a shame, as I believe that the service there is second to none. Regardless of the branding, I hope that the staff are looked after and either taken on by Pullman, or offered suitable positions at HSW or MEL DT*.

I have made a booking as late as I can in December (26th). Maybe AFF could make a night of it.

*MDT?

Several people were advised of this earlier in the week (by Hilton) but had to promise not to make it public until Accor made the announcement.

Sad but nothing we can do unfortunately.

Gain one, lose one. :(

26th sounds good but who is going to fly me back from Bolivia for it :?:

I have a booking at HSW on the 26th, might switch it over.. Never stayed at HOTP.. It looks a bit too old fashioned for my liking, but would be a shame to not go before its no longer.

I can provide the MEL airport transfer.

I have a few bookings there in Jan 2015, and was not told beforehand that it would be reflagged so soon.
Any ideas how they would treat HH Gold after the re-flagging?

No idea. But I would hope they would make allowances for bookings made before the rebranding was announced.

You could always look out for the Accor instant Platinum offers that pop up from time to time.

Hilton on the park melbourne changes name

heads up herd from a friend today as of the 1st of jan Hilton on the park melbourne will be trading as the pullman melbourne on the park. Not a bad running for the hotel that is 40 years old and only have been trading the hilton name for that long. it will be great to see what accor does to the hotel.

Accor instant plat is a thing of the past

Count one pleased person, as an Accor rather than a Hilton member :) (Asking why would be a legitimate question, but that's another (longer) story ...)
