Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Another data point. Applied last Monday, uploaded pay slips at the end of the web process. Received an email asking for pay slips Tuesday morning, which I ignored. Received an SMS Tuesday afternoon asking for pays slips, which I ignored. Tuesday night, received an email from HHonors advising that my account had been upgraded to Gold, so I assumed the card had been accepted. Wednesday morning, received letter in the post with Internet banking initial password. Thursday morning, received card via hand-addressed Express Post envelope.

High income, low expenses, but this is the 4th card application (all successful) in the last 12 months. Credit limit offered was $20,200, compared with the 110,000 bonus point Amex Velocity Plat, which offered an initial limit of $6,000.

So, doesn't seem to follow other experiences of applicants needing high expenses for approval.

Does the welcoming letter say "no annual fee"?

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

I applied for the card on 22nd at lunch time and uploaded my payslips at the end of the application. My card was sent out on 23th via express post and arrived on 24th. On the financial table, it shows both primary card annual fee and additional card annual fee as $0.

Did you read the T&C to ensure it's fee free for life?

There is nothing say fee free for life. However, the financial table where it shows the annual fees are the same as the Citibank Signature (fee free for life) and the Bankwest Platinum Zero cards which shows as $0. Otherwise, I would expect to see a figure there.
If they introduce fee in the future, I will just cancel the card.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

One member on this thread have said they received an email from Macquarie indicating that it's fee free for life.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Applied on Saturday night, uploaded payslips at the end of the application.
Expenses relatively low compared to income but lots of credit cards currently open. Also applied for a balance transfer as part of the offer.
A few recent card applications.

Haven't received any contact since the application but today when I log into my Macquarie account I can see the card there and the available balance, looks like it has been approved :)
I had an existing Macquarie account from a Prime share trading account I had but haven't used for years and it had a 0 balance.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Just went through the letter and financial table. No explicit mention of fee free for life, but as has been pointed out, the Annual Primary Cardholder Fee and Annual Additional Cardholder Fee are set to $0 in the financial table, suggesting it will be fee free until they change it (as opposed to fee free for life).

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Bah! Its like they don't actually want you to book direct with them. I price compare now more often with aggregators (careful though, some of these are now oncharging the fee as well) or just use their partners to book int. fares.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Got my card on friday, took 5 working days. As others mentioned letter says no annual fee. Hope they keep it that way for a long time like citibank. Nice looking card, if only the earn rate was at least 3 hilton points a dollar like the US ones.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

How long are the reward night certificates valid for when issued?

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

The reward certificate seems a bit of a joke. Rang to book a room and was told need to find a 50k point room available. Looking at rooms in SYD and MEL the minimum reward room cost is 60k

that is not correct....if you can find a room bookable with standard points, you can then book that room with the certificate eg I booked a room at Conrad Koh Samui this year with the certificate when I could see the room available for 80K pts....don''t forget it is only available for Fri, Sat or Sun night :)

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Definitely not correct I have used 2 certificates at the Conrad Rangali which is 95k per night.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

The base (entry-level) room type needs to be available, from what HHonors has told me. This room type is almost never available in Sydney. Probably booked out long term for airline staff.

Edit: I recently used a certificate at HSP (where that room type is often available). Probably not the best use of the certificate, though.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Question: if I use a reward night certificate plus a paid night, does this mean I get no points for the entire 2 night stay?

paid night counts plus any 'expenses' for the whole stay

booked this week Hong Kong Conrad with certificate. 80k points usually. no dramas

I'm doing this over the coming weekend. I expect any restaurant/room service/minibar/"incidentals", etc, to count towards points (and not the paid night room rate cost). Hope that I'm wrong, and that I get points for the paid night as well.
