Hilton Honors Macquarie Platinum Card

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Let us know how you go and whether that method works. Would have really liked to have the card just for Hilton weekend nights.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

After 3 attempts at getting a manual review I've decided to let this one go.

The way I see it, Macquarie is a corporate bank like this that focuses primarily on investments, it's moving into consumer products but is really seeking the customers who will pay interest.

Macquarie is offering a HHonors Gold member, and a 1 free night for ($0). What do they want given CC spend is already been restricted with RBA announcement? Interest. I feel I fit the profile of a customer who will not pay interest, and therefore I was "declined". Previous posters have highlighted the income/expenses ratio being too high (too little expenses) will cause decline. And one had success in changing this.

I might review this next time I submit an application (6 months or so) - but for now I can't justify the time spent screwing around with Macquarie for one free night and a free breakfast.

Their complaints department highlighted that this card is causing them quite some grief and the number of complaints coming through is quite high, due to the number of declines I'd say!

I was just approved with high income/low expenses. Maybe there is more to it...

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

How many cards have you applied for before this one?

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

About 3 cards before this one. Two cards July, and another early Aug. Then nothing until mid which was AMEX business anyway (never showed up in my consumer credit check)

Cynicor, how long did it take for your application approval to come thru? Thanks.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

... Two cards July ....

Maybe those two recent card applications enabled you to be a suitable card holder (profile wise) for Macquarie? We'll never know, of course.

Edit: Happy for you that your card was approved. For me, it took three attempts, lowering my declared income and increasing my declared out-goings. I will keep this card, probably because it was so difficult for me to get.

It wasn't... That's why I think the two cards before might have impacted my score. I'm going to ring up and ask for a review of the details I gave them, at which point - put up my living expenses.

Oh, no. Sorry about that . I was using my iphone and must have got confused when I read it.

After two knock-backs, including requests for reviews (which got absolutely nowhere) I finally got it on what I had decided was my final attempt. They told me that they couldn't go into detail, and that it's in accordance with their credit criteria (or policy?), which says nothing.

So when you say knock-backs you mean actual applications, or manual reviews?

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Two applications were not approved (at least 12 months apart). And requests (by letter) for reviews resulted in no real information, just " .... in accordance with our credit criteria (?) ..... "

Anyway, good luck with this, you may do better. No harm in trying is there?

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Just applied and the application asked for payslips straight away, I uploaded them.
Does this mean I'm conditionally approved or is that just the automatic step?
Fingers crossed.

It's the automatic step. I had to upload my pay slip as well. In the end got declined. Best of luck with your application.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Cheers, done a few applications recently so a bit worried.
Will keep the thread updated when I receive an outcome.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Another data point. Applied last Monday, uploaded pay slips at the end of the web process. Received an email asking for pay slips Tuesday morning, which I ignored. Received an SMS Tuesday afternoon asking for pays slips, which I ignored. Tuesday night, received an email from HHonors advising that my account had been upgraded to Gold, so I assumed the card had been accepted. Wednesday morning, received letter in the post with Internet banking initial password. Thursday morning, received card via hand-addressed Express Post envelope.

High income, low expenses, but this is the 4th card application (all successful) in the last 12 months. Credit limit offered was $20,200, compared with the 110,000 bonus point Amex Velocity Plat, which offered an initial limit of $6,000.

So, doesn't seem to follow other experiences of applicants needing high expenses for approval.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

I applied under the min credit limit of $6k - maybe this is where I went wrong...

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Applied on 19/8/16. No letters so called them up today. They have declined my application because I had another macquarie card application (Jetstar MasterCard) within past 6 months and suggests I reapply after the 6 month mark.

Ohhh that may be the reason I got declined as well.
