i called up and they said you will get charged an annual the following year and theres no points for ato payments. i would suggest take screen shots of the offer and terms and threaten to complain to the financial ombudsman if they do charge you it the following year like i had to with my $0 annual fee wbc black card offer. can anyone who has applied for this offer confirm whats actually printed on the letter of offer regarding the annual fee?

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Could the free weekend night be used at Conrad Maldives? This would be worth easily $1.5k AUD, if I factor the additional weekend night. That'd be $3k. Thus I essentially get $3k for spending $12k (Tax, Bills etc), not a bad rate.

I'm having a hard time understanding if I can actually use it for this purpose though, our honeymoon is coming up in Jan 17.

Edit: Nevermind just found out you can - 5 Spectacular Hotels in Asia Where You Can Stay 2 Weekend Nights With the Hilton Reserve Card | Million Mile Secrets

But I'm assuming that the standard room rate reward needs to be available?

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Id be keen to confirm the limits to use these vouchers. I'm planning an HH booking for family holiday to Hawaii next year (2 adults & 2 kids <5). HH rep I spoke with yesterday reckoned it would apply. I reckon it's for 2 adult rooms only.
Keen to hear of other members' experience with these.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Are there any terms on the actual weekend certificate?

Hilton HHonorsâ„¢ - Hilton HHonorsâ„¢ Free Night Certificate Terms & Conditions - states that weekend is defined at "Friday, Saturday, Sunday". This means if I applied for 4 credit cards I could save up to $6000 - from $8k spend, as I'm looking at staying Friday, Saturday, Sunday and the following Friday. And with $120k spend we'd all be HHonours Diamond.

And if I pushed that to $48k spend - I would get another 4 nights the following year.

My question is - can these certificates be combined together in the same transaction? Can multiple Macquarie accounts link to the same HHonours account? How hard are they to book?

If you get platinum in time for the rewards weekend you could get room upgrades as well which is a nice bonus for your honeymoon.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

You can use the free night certificate at the Conrad Rangali, you can use them and any Hilton Property that has standard room availability and is not on the exclusion list here:

My wife and I have booked the Conrad Rangali for 4 nights in December using 1 Certificate and 1 nights Points from each of our accounts. I then just emailed the resort to have the 4 reservation numbers linked into one booking.

My immediate thought. However resort is too exclusive to fit a free upgrade profile. Maldives: HHonors Gold & Diamond Member HHonors Benefits

Still with free breakfast and happy hour can't complain...

Apparently the only status that lends well is Elite+.

I will still get the card as 4 points per $ is not a bad redemption for our spend at Hilton. Plus the one free night is attractive.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

I have just got this card it states on the back of the letter than there is an annual fee so i called them and a lovely lady confirmed no annual fee ever!

Wait she said no annual fee for life?

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

If the letter states an annual fee, then I would go by that, rather than what a lovely lady tells you over the phone.

Edit: I prefer these things to be in print

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

received an email campaign from hhonours today offering this card fee free for life

fine print states:

[SUP]1[/SUP] Offer is limited to new applicants only. Primary or additional cardholder annual fees may be introduced or varied in future.

Thanks for posting about that offer.

That note is a bit worrying, regarding annual fees may be introduced in the future though. I guess that was the point that you were highlighting.

Edit: So, possibly "First year free"?

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

What are the likelihood of Macquarie waiving the annual fee? Anyone had any success. This card is definitely a keeper.

Just got off the phone with Macquarie Card Services, and I am happy to report that I got the annual fee waived!

The phone call took a while, as the rep launched into a lengthy spiel about the benefits of the card and the Hhonors program more generally, but I stuck to my guns and made it clear that having already gained Diamond Status the $299 annual fee wouldn't provide much value to me. So happy to keep the card for another year, and get another 'reward weekend night certificate' (for having spent $12,000 in the current anniversary year), though will cancel in 12 months time if another fee waiver is not forthcoming.

I called Macquarie this afternoon, and went through to an overseas Call Centre, from what I could gather. Enquired as to any incentives being offered to keep this card for another 12 months, as "I am reviewing my credit cards" (the annual fee is due in about two months time, anyway). Customer Service was not very pro-active: "Sorry, but no offers as at this time".

I mentioned that their web-site has the No Annual Fee offer for new applicants. This was acknowledged, but confirmed as only being open to new applicants.

I had put just under $30,000 through the card in the previous year, but significantly less during the current year.

No joy here. :(

On a positive note you're one step closer to getting Diamond status with Hilton Hotels.
