As I am currently not a member of any hotel loyalty program, am just wondering if I was to join Hilton HHonors loyalty program, make an eligible stay booking, and collect HHonors ( and maybe QFF points depending on method chosen) by one of the three availble methods in their "double dipping" scheme, would I then also receive additional QFF points from Qantas for an eligible stay at a partner hotel. I've noticed in QF terms and conditions, it suggests that QFF members who belong to other loyalty programmes can only accumulate points for one program per hotel stay, and that the QFF member must nominate prior to booking, but the clause also adds that this is 'unless otherwise specified by Qantas'? Any advice??

No, you either earn QF FF points by having QF as your nominated double dipping airline partner, or by not giving Hilton you HH number and only giving them your QF number.

The hotel will only process points to one program, QF or Hilton Honors. If you select Hilton Honors, then HH will will pay QF points if you have selected that option. In this case it is Hilton Honors that is paying the QF points, not the hotel directly.

Personally, I take the additional 50% HH base points rather than the QF FF points. I already get plenty of QF FF points from flying and credit card transactions, so having more HH points is of value to me. I used them for family stays in expensive places like Paddington Hilton in London.

The reference to crediting in only one program means you cant claim credit for hotel stay to QFF and also for the same stay credit to another FFP (eg NZ). It is not referring to double dip HHonors & QFF - this is a feature of the program.

Depends which option you choose, and with HHonors you can change option as often as you like.

If you choose 50% bonus HH base points then no miles to QFF or indeed any other FFP. BUT if you choose points + fixed miles or points + variable miles then you get HH points AND miles to your selected FFP. It depends on your stay patterns, room charge and value to you of miles and HHonor points as to which option works out best for you.

I generally have points + fixed miles and credit to NZ rather than QF as its worth more to me (20 airbucks vs 1000 QF miles). However most of my stays are 1 or 2 nights; but on longer stays, or more expensive stays, I change to 50% bonus HH base points or points + variable miles depending on what I need more of at the time.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Which hotel loyalty program you join depends on where you will be travelling and what you want from the program. If you intend to travel a lot in the USA then I think you should join hiltonhonours. You will always get hh points and ff points if you wish to-I usually do and if I am staying for longer in a hotel switch to points plus variable miles-1 ff mile per $US.
Until now I have not found getting free stays has been great value with Hilton thats why I go for the ff miles.
The great value of the honours program is to get status-gold or diamond-so that you get upgraded to executive rooms and a free breakfast.I personally have found Hilton to be better than other programs for this.
