Hilton Diamond through Velocity Platinum status

Mine had to be escalated 3 times before it finally happened. Took 2 months
Ouch!

Pleased to report back that VA did follow-up within 5 days, saying that it was all done. The Hilton app then switched me onto their review circle, starting at Gold and then turning to Diamond after 1-2 days. I was fully HH Diamond by the time that I waltzed into the Conrad Tokyo, with all of the perks that brings... e.g. lobster omelette for breakfast - wow, just wow!

And an ironic thank you to Qantas for all of the grief throughout 2023, that drove me into the arms of VA, all the way to VA Platinum / HH Diamond status and into the Executive Lounge of the Conrad Tokyo! Karma, perhaps?

20 business days? Then call velocity member services. The general number, option three or whatever.

They noted the date I had applied, asked me to make sure my name and emails matched on both accounts, asked me to check my junk mail… and then submitted a request to follow up with Hilton.

Took three days after that to update in my account on line, and another two days after that before an official notification from Hilton.

I also applied online 2nd Jan. Called velocity late Jan to check on progress but hadn’t passed 20 business days so told to call later. Then had to call on Monday to see what was happening and advised nothing, the request hadn’t even been put to Hilton yet… so emphasised the timeline and asked to speak to a supervisor who flagged my request and said to check back by the end of the week. Sent follow up emails to Hilton Honors (useless, they don’t seem to understand this process at all) and Velocity Platinum email. Finally yesterday received response from VFF plat email saying request had been approved by Hilton (but could still take up to 20 business days to show). Checked HHonors account and it had been updated almost immediately after the email from VFF. What an awful process to go through for something that should be as simple as clicking a button and linking an account. The timelines seem ambiguous and the staff seem to really have no idea. Even the data from this thread shows it really is all over the place for how long and how many follow ups it will take an individual!
 
It's actually fairly painless! Wait 20 business days, call Velocity. Couple days later get new status.

As you say, Hhonors won't know anything, and all the other chatter about timelines is also mostly made up!
 
Seems just about everyone has had to go through this same process... I know I did, plus also had to do exactly the same for the Hertz Presidents Circle membership (which is given ongoing with Accor ALL Platinum / Diamond, BTW). I don't think the VFF online process actually does anything; or maybe it pushes the request for processing to a resolver group that no longer exists, or has a new functional mailbox

Just before I give Virgin a nudge, may I double-check that any status earned from 1 January 2024 will be good until February 2026?
