Hilton (brand) returning to MEL

I feel like I should do a trip report of the weekend stay as it’s the only time this year I’m likely to get out of NSW 🤣
Anyhoo here’s my thoughts

Diamond 2 night stay this weekend.

Junior Suite in the front heritage part of the hotel.
Absolutely beautiful hotel. Great service. I arrived on a very early flight and dropped my bag to go and get Covid tested. Received a text message at 12pm saying my suite was ready. Welcome card, Chocolates as Diamond amenity and a bottle each of still and sparkling water.
There is no lounge here but you are given a voucher for canapés and two drinks each night between 5-7 in hotel bar The Douglas Club.
Breakfast at Luci as Diamond is complimentary.
The Chilli Crab Benny was absolutely delicious !!!
Spotted The Champagne Dame/ RHOM having the same dish at an adjacent table.

Downsides are it’s a little noisy as the tram runs right past on Bourke St.
The reception is on the side street rather than Bourke and it’s a little awkward for Uber drivers to drop off/ pick up.

Overall a solid stay and I’d happily book again whenever I’m allowed back into Victoria ☺️151B7D90-D856-4F8D-97CF-F5646644E018.jpegBBD9B2C3-0C3C-47C6-A46B-3815D94E1524.jpegD150C4E2-D79D-4049-BF59-A77C8237CA2A.jpegB0A2AC8A-1C5C-4D6A-9111-17A58E41D6F3.jpegECA59088-183D-4CC9-A49F-833151628842.jpegBFDA9D57-B534-4EF4-9361-E18C39416E83.jpeg90BBA6C6-9B3C-4CB7-9B80-77B11A10E54B.jpeg25547F0D-838F-4988-8C13-FAD2F3CDD14C.jpeg

@Princess Fiona the suites look nice. I was there a couple of months back and the suites were not open. Agree with your comment about the main entrance entrance location, I lived in MEL for 20+ years and found it difficult to find however as I have there I will know where to go next time. Looking at the photos posted are the suites located in the old part of the building? you mentioned the tram noise.

OT, if so our resident HH carpark and now airport park viewer aka @TonyHancock may have to suggest to Grisilda that a room in the tower is more appropriate. Whenever he gets back to AU and stays in the new MEL Hilton I suspect Grisilda will be writing a stern letter to someone.

As @JessicaTam and yourself mentioned staff service was great, I had a couple of minor issues with my stay (soft opening) it would seem things are starting to get on track and have no hesitation in making another booking.

The suites are in the heritage part that fronts Bourke Street.

I'll be staying there again this Sunday and have just received an email with an upgraded room from King Guest to King Premium Heritage. Wondering how bad is the noise level with the trams on Bourke St? When I stayed in the newer and taller tower, it was absolute bliss as there was no noise at all at night.

It’s not an issue from my experience.

Thanks for reminding me about the trams. I remember this being an issue with the old Hilton in East Melbourne. Only took 1 stay for me to realise I needed to ask for a room at the back of the building that overlooked the bins and backyards :) No view but much much quieter

Finally got to stay here and while the upgraded premium room was relatively small, I thought it was an excellent hotel. Service was wonderfully friendly. It was also the best Hilton continental breakfast in recent memory. Lounge wasn't crowded, although it was a Sunday.

Agree, it is by far the nicest Hilton in Australia.
