High peak season airfare ripoffs

USA is just cheaper now because demand has dropped off. The flights may be cheap, but holiday makers know the accommodation, the food, the entertainment, even the shopping is expensive over there. It's an expensive holiday regardless of the airfare so airlines lower the price to pick up whatever demand they can, as it's really only those small number of rellies and business travel that keep the plans to go.

Asia on the other hand still has the cheap accommodation and food, so travel stays maintained as a holiday destination. And on top of that those sectors also get sales for travellers to Europe which keeps a base amount of demand as well. Whereas very few go somewhere else via the US. Travel is virtually only as a destination so is more volatile based on demand for the US itself. It's not a fair comparison you're making.
Actually the USA doesn’t have to be more expensive. It’s really like anywhere there is cheap food & accommodation & at the other end or the scale there is expensive ones. I travel frequently (2/3 times/ year) to USA and I book any accommodation on an Australian site & pay in $AUD. Food isn’t that expensive if you buy wisely & use Happy Hours. I think a lot of people get stuck in areas full of overpriced tourist traps.
oh, and the cities I go to are SF, LA & NYC so pretty much known as the expensive cities.

as stated previously, skiing in USA is now the cheapest place to ski anywhere due to massive competition. Family lift tickets at one of the best resorts in whole of north america, only $37 U.S. (approx $53 au) for 1 adult & up to 4 kids. That's so cheap. up to 5 people for $53 au a day. On snow accommodation from $162 u.s./night for a 3 star condo that sleeps 4 for most nights in Jan & Feb & only have to walk 200 metres to lifts. Of course there are more expensive options for accommodation.

(you can't get these prices online, only through an australian snow wholesaler)

Those on tight budgets don't go out for dinner much & booze at bottle shops is relatively cheap.

Of course you can get cheaper and dearer food and the rest, but the point was on a like for like basis equivalent items are dearer.

comparing "apples with apples" skiing in Colorado is much better & much cheaper, than anything in Canada, Japan, Eu.
What is the name of the ski resort?
copper mt, which has some of the best skiing anywhere. U.S. ski team trains there.

check out website www.copperCOLORADO.COM but ignore high online prices which are for Americans, who only get few weeks annual leave in total & so stay shorter periods & don't get long stay discounts on lift tickets & accommodation on snow.
