I have Hilton points sitting in my account.
I notice the conversion rate from Hilton to Qantas is 10,000 = 1,500 .... not so ideal.

But I notice there seems to be an option to transfer 1 to 1 Hilton to Amex points with Austraia being on the list
Hilton HHonors® - HHonors® Points & Miles - American Express® Membership Rewards

So I was thinking ... provided I'm enrolled in Amex rewards that auto-dumps points into my Qantas account, then should i be able to transfer Hilton to Amex ... then Amex to Qantas all on a 1-for-1 basis ??

Somehow I suspect I'm dreaming.

I think you will find it is the other way around. From the website

HHonors said:
Transfer American Express Membership Rewards program points to HHonors points

So 1 Amex MR point = 1 HHonors point....

If it makes you feel any better I have the same sort of dilemma.

I have ~30,000 Hhonors points

- I can either spend them for 1 night accommodation in a ~$200-300/night Hilton hotel which to me means nothing and is a waste of points and/or money or
- Transfer them to Qantas and receive 4,500 QFF points which are ~3.2% of the QFF points required for a Oneworld award and are actually worth at least $90 to me

Best used as a nights accommodation I think John.

You know there is no bartering allowed on AFF. ;)

Seriously I was thinking of trading them on Flyertalk Coupon Connection but all I hear is bad things about deals gone wrong. No way I am transferring my points to someone and then find they have disappeared.

I am sure the best redemption for some people would be on a hotel room but I am looking for ways to get better value for my Hhonors points. It is a shame Points.com is useless.

Shame we can't burn the points when staying at the hotel on things like food & wine.
Or have a system like points & pay for rooms like some others do.

For each of my Hilton stays I take the Fixed miles plus Hilton points as this seems to be the best Qantas earn that I can see e.g 1,000 Qantas points plus Hilton points in their double dip scheme. Especially since I mainly stay a single night at a time.

Well I just used a free night certificate and points for 2 nights at the Conrad Bali, being HH Gold got upgrade to Ocean View Room, and with the HH upgrades email selected direct swim out room for 90.00 for 2 nights or for 500.00 a private pool villa, will see which upgrade I might score, finger crossed for the private pool villa
