I am thinking of booking a weeks holiday at this resort, but I can't find any details of what I would receive as a Gold HH member.
I guess there is no executive floor, so am I guaranteed an upgrade to the next room type? Specifically if we book a "beachfront studio" can we assume an upgrade to 1 BR beachfront, as this is the next room level?
Also would I receive a free breakfast as I do at Hilton hotels, + spouse for no additional cost?
Would be great to hear experiences of anyone with HH status who has stayed here.

Not planning to be there until December, but I also have no status. I could find out while I am there possibly though.

Did receive such an upgrade as a diamond but travelled with a gold who did not-there is no quaranteed upgrade with HH.If you go in school holidays much less likely to get upgrade.
We both got full breakfast.
But was ~ 3 years ago.

Stayed at the Fiji Beach Resort by Hilton at Denarau earlier this year in March. I was HH Gold then.

Booked a beachfront studio and was upgraded to a 1 bedroom beachfront. Quite a generous room! Turndown service in the evening.

There is no Executive Lounge.

Breakfast (full buffet) was complimentary at the restaurant in the main pool area. As a HH Gold, this is the minimum you should receive as part of your benefits. Of course, now with the changes in September, you should also be entitled to free internet (as always, check how the free internet works before you start using it, i.e. special code or charge then remove).

You may also receive a gift, but this isn't definite. Got a small wooden kava bowl when I was there.

Amenities were by Molton Brown, not Crabtree & Evelyn.

Thanks
Space is the critical thing for us as we have 1 YO baby, so will book the larger garden view studio just to be on the safe side and hope for a 1 br beachfront upgrade. Free breakfast makes it a good deal at $180 pn in mid Feb 2011.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Send the GM a note indicating you will be arriving does no harm at all.

My younger brother recently stayed here and said it was very nice, good service, nice rooms, but he did say it was rather windy by the beach in the afternoon.

I stayed at the Radisson last year which is around further. My wife and my 2 year old son had a one bedroom which was roomy and well appointed, it is very nice but is one of the smaller resorts on the Denerau. It was around further and out of the wind which was nice, but the beach was only average compared with beaches in Aust, but good value and baby sitting was quite cheap, the one bed suite was also well priced for 7 nights, roughly about $150 AU per night, with full brekky from memory.

Trip Advisor shows the Radisson as # 1 on Denarau and Hilton as #2. I'll still book Hilton for both the HH amenities and the points.

Now that you have mentioned the wind, can anyone who has been there tell me what the weather is like in Feb /March / April?

thanks

We went mid-March along with another two people we knew (but they had separate plans, we were just on the same flight out). We only stayed for 2 nights, but the day after we left the typhoon came in, which coerced the other two to cut their plans short and also short circuit their routing.

YMMV of course, and this is Mother Nature we're talking about.....

Rain. And more rain.

We went in the last week of Feb '08. The weather was variable. The first two days it rained but the last 4 it was fantastic.

The hotel still had a lot of work to be completed on it at that stage, but was a pleasant place to stay none the less.

I used HH redemption to book for 6 days. As a Diamond member I got an upgrade to a 1 bed beach-front. No pool, but it was a good sized room with separate kitchenette, lounge and dining room. The terrace onto the beach was covered and had a BBQ.

During the first 2 days of rain we hunkered up in the hotel, reading books, using the Gym which was so so and the spa.

When the weather broke we hit town and the other hotels. Denaru Island was pretty undeveloped at that time, 4 or 5 Restaurants none more upscale than a Hard Rock... We had a great time however just kicking back and relaxing, which after all is what Fiji is about.

We got free breakfast for 1 each day, at the time this included room service so we had room service each morning.

Toiletries were Molten Brown.

The on-site shop did a roaring trade in the evening and offered great Pizza

We too were given the cava bowl and a reception drinks hour on the second night.

Not fantastic benefits for Diamond at the time, but overall it was a pleasant and relaxing place with very friendly staff.

Don't go for the beach though... as it is not what we're used to.

I would go again for sure! Enjoy :)
