Took up the option of Hertz Gold five star, when reach dj gold status (doing it the hard way) and five rentals and not one upgrade yet! Havent seen any benefit being a five star member as opposed to being a normal hertz gold member.

Don't expect to, I never did as a Five Star member!

However, as a Presidents Circle member, I have received 2 upgrades, and a few nothings....

1. OOL Airport - Booked Toyota Camry, Received Ford Falcon XR6
2. OOL Airport - Booked Toyota Corolla, Received Mercedes C200 - I had to add on insurance though, as my credit card doesn't cover it, The insurance cost the same as the car :(

Yes, Hertz Five Star would have to be the coughpiest reward program around - it's really no benefit - I've had people in the call centre tell me that they don't give upgrades even for Five Star members, and that it's extra benefit over #1 Club Gold.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

So spend $500 at Hertz, get 500 Hertz Gold Plus Rewards points, and a free Day...

Alternatively,
$500 at Hertz = 3000 Velocity Points (for a Platinum VFF)

Definitely not as good as Velocity Points...

Assuming a rental price of $50 per day which is about right, that's a 1% return on spend using the Hertz Gold Plus Rewards
OR
3000 Velocity points = $135 when redeemed for J Int flights
