Hi guys,
Arriving in to LAX on VA next week (I believe they are now flying in to TBIT).
Is the Hertz at LAX nearby, or will it be a schlep for me to get there with a heap of luggage?
Can't decide whether to get a hire car to my hotel then work out a rental from there, or whether to bite the bullet and just do it at the airport.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I take it you don't have any status with Hertz and hence can't get the car delivered to the airport terminal for pickup?

There are frequent shuttles to the Hertz depot from outside of arrivals. You just have to lug the luggage onto the shuttle and then take it off at the other end.

Hertz have regular buses cruising the arrivals level.. just hop on the bus and away you go.. It'll take about 10 minutes, and it's the furthest away.. Right under the approach for the northern runways..

Its a short walk from any of the LAX hotels.. but as always, book the car here.. much cheaper.

I have tier status either from Virgin or Centurion, can't remember which. Don't see terminal delivery listed on the website though?

Take the Black & Yellow Big Bertha shuttle from outside the terminal. Approx. every 10-15 mins frequency. 10 mins drive to the main Hertz transition area.

As others have said take the Hertz shuttle, it's free and they're usually plentiful although you can have to wait 10-15mins for them. They have a Gold counter / drop off and a regular one (from memory) and if your name is on the board you can carry your stuff to the car (sometimes there are trolleys) and off you go. I've found Hertz to be very good at helping pax with luggage. A couple of years ago relocating to AU I turned up at the LAX depot with a car full of luggage and the check-in guy dropped me at the QF terminal so I didn't need to unload.

I used Hertz LAX a few weeks ago with a heap of luggage (4 large bags). We didn't have to wait long for the shuttle (even at around midnight) and both times the drivers got up and helped with luggage. The buses have a dedicated luggage area in the middle near the door.
