Hello guys
Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this,
My inlaws live in Sydney and they have jumped on the frequent flyer bandwagon with my help. We are looking for an affordable fare from SYD>LON>SIN mid Sept 2020. Does anyone know of any decent fares on the market at the moment? Or combos of flights, they don't mind staying over in SIN or HEL for a night.

If your inlaws are adamant about earning Qantas points/SCs, have a look at the Finnair round the world deal:

You will get much better value for money going on a non-oneworld airline.

Welcome to AFF @ukaussie :) (It probably is the wrong forum, but never mind. )

Its a complex topic. Sorry, I don't know of any particular fares at the moment, but levelnine was spot on re looking at Finnair RTW; Finnair also have good sales from time to time.

Qatar Airways have a fantastic business product in QSuites (but not out of MEL I think; ADL is cheaper than SYD) for a good price. Sril Lankan can also be cheap-ish out of MEL via Colombo.

NOT flying to (or more specifically, out of) the UK will often result in a cheaper fare - the departure-type taxes out of the UK in business longhaul are VERY high. If you fly to, say Paris or another adjacent port and then get a short-haul to London, the savings will be considerable.

The 'Cheap international airfares' forum would be good to browse:

OP's in-laws are looking at travelling September next year, as am I.

This offer (which had caught my eye earlier) runs until mid June (unless anyone knows it's been extended):

Note

Seasons: Travel until the 15 June 2020

Regards,

BD

The AY sales are regular and good value and the best value for oz-europe travel nd do have some flex. Short of a surprise set of fares or other offers coming out that would be the go to for me. It seems a fair assumption they will again offer the $5k-$6k Business fares again for the travel period in question - just need to keep an eye open.

The in laws should note that they will still need at least 4 QF flights to qualify for any status attain from these flights. While 2 of those could be to/from SIN (QF flight numbers, not AY codeshares) it is a good idea to keep that in mind too.
