Hi

Hoping people more savvy than me can help!

I have 89,000 HH points - which I am unlikely to use in the next 2 years based on travel plans.

Looking at the current offer to transfer to Velocity and get a 20% bonus.

HH also have an offer of buy 5,000 points (and above) - get bonus 5,000 - that is $50.

100,000 HH points nets me 15,000 VFF points + 3,000 bonus.

Is this worth a) buying 10,000 points for and b) doing. If it is worth doing - is it a good rate that means I should look at buying some more HH points and converting across??

Thanks!

Do you have plans for the Velocity points?

If you leave points in Hhonors for a couple of years would not be a bad thing. If you're not planning on staying at a Hilton then buy 1,000 Hhonors points for USD10 to keep account active.

Transferring 89,000 Hhonors points to Velocity with the bonus gives you 16,020 Velocity points which at 1c/point are only worth ~$160. I believe you can get better value out of using Hhonors points on hotel stays.

And in my opinion I wouldn't buy Hhonors points to transfer to Velocity as it does not appear to be that good a deal.

Yes - I have plans for the Velocity Points. I have a nice balance now but plan on using them to upgrade to J on SQ later this year.

The answer lies in how much you value your points.

Buying Hhonors points and transferring to Velocity with current bonus looks to be around 2.75c/point.

You're talking pennies really so if you need the VA points then do the transfer. HH are offering 100% bonus on points purchase so then add the 20% it works out ok. IHG and SPG are also offering bonuses.
