Apologies if this is the wrong forum...

I'm trying to book an Emirates itinerary which should be straight forward, SYD-DXB-BLR, however the Qantas web site only offers QF/AI via SYD-ADL-DEL-BLR. I would prefer the Emirates itinerary for fewer stops and avoiding Air India, plus the Emirates A380 for the long segment is much better in economy than Qantas on a 787 (though I might still choose the Qantas option for the possible upgrade, not sure yet). Is there any way to book such an itinerary these days, or does Qantas block them since they are offering their own service to India?

Note - I can book directly through Emirates but prefer the increased QFF miles and lounge access on a QF code.

It might be because you're backtracking. Have you tried the multi-city booking tool?

Haven’t looked at the specific route but the QF EK code share agreement does not include all EK destinations. In the past we wanted BNE DXB SEA and YVR and these routes were not bookable via QF, even on the phone even at fully paid flights. Had to book via EK.

Perhaps call QF and ask if your route is possible as you want.

India isn't a destination in QF's agreement with EK so you would need to book with EK.
Thanks, I thought my colleagues had done this in the past but seems they must have booked direct and not via QF codeshares as they claimed.

It's not that big of a backtrack, all things considered, and is a common-enough way to get to India, especially now with HKG not an option, and SIN transfers significantly limited. Multi-city search just says, "We're having trouble finding flight options that match your search. (#7190)" - I suspect based on the above, it can't handle the DXB-BLR sector.

Shortest route would be via CMB, but UL isn't running their CMB-BLR flights in a way that connects with MEL-CMB at all (it suggests a 25-hour layover!).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
