Help with domestic sectors AONE4

Hi Guys,

have just booked the following for work leaving 15/03 returning 31/03.

MEL-SYD-HKG-DEL(NO STOPOVERS)//BOM-LHR-BCN//NCE-LHR-EZE-SYD-MEL

I don't have enough time to maximise the segments in Europe and have always wanted to see Buenos Aires. As this only uses 11/16 segments, can anyone suggest how to get the most out the domestic segments. Keen to go to CNS or BME in September for some sun:D.

Ok, the bad news is SYD-AKL is now served by the renovated LAN A340's and no longer have F so you have no chance for F flights in SWP.

hmmm...

Due to the way the rules work and the fact you cant return to point of origin the fact you have booked hence its difficult to change the first sector the only think i can see as useful is to do a ...EZE-SYD-CNS-MEL.

I am not sure but since ground segments only count in the total not the continent number maybe you could not return SYD-MEL on the AONE4 and instead simply return to SYD and then you have SYD-MEL as a ground segment, this gives you the chance to have an extra stop somewhere.
Remember you only have 2 stops in your home continent.

I am assuming you live in MEL anyway. But next time could be advantage to book ex-SYD so you can better use your stop's in AU in MEL and somewhere else.

have no interest in AKL this trip, happy QF now flies to EZE. I can easily change to leave SYD and buy a separate MEL-SYD-MEL if that maximises the domestic sectors.

Its a difficult one, you can only have 2 stops here... and you cant return to point of origin.
If you happy only to have one weekend away the easy option is do as you are now, buy a domestic ticket to MEL (eg SYD-MEL-SYD) so when you land back in SYD you can get to MEL, then the return leg to SYD later to do SYD-CNS-MEL or to mazimise SC earn do a SYD-BNE-CNS-MEL and with your original MEL-SYD thats your 4 sectors and 2 stops used.

So the bold bit is just a seperate domestic ticket.

Now if you wanted some more F flights in Europe i think you could do it... LHR-MCT-LHR, this is because the ground segments only count to the total not the continent number.
Or if you wanted more sectors and interesting places in South America then you could do something like...

...-LHR-GRU-SCL-CCS-EZE-SYD-...

.... or you could get some more F in Asia by doing a HKG-SIN-HKG or something like that, CX does that route via BKK, or HKG-NRT-HKG

or
MEL-SYD-HKG-SIN-HKG-DEL//BOM-LHR-BCN//NCE-LHR-MCT-LHR-EZE-SYD-MEL-SYD-CNS-MEL (about 1890 SC if crediting to QF and more F flights)

A couple more ideas to think about.

Actually re-reading i see you said you cant spend 2 days doing an LHR-MCT-LHR turn around but maybe the South America interests you...
Sao Paulo, Santiago, Caracas, ...
Or EZE-CCS-SCL-IPC-SCL and go and see Easter Island ?
or EZE-LIM-SCL-IPC-SCL including Lima in Peru + Easter Island.

hahaha, sorry about that !
And to think i used to be only taking the simple routes a couple of years ago, i had a lifetime Qantas club membership since i never imagined i would really get to gold.... i am now Platinum. And i now get to see even more of the world :)

I don't do segments just for the sake of SC's generally now but if on a ticket that allows it like xONEx i will maximise my trip with the view to seeing new places and places i enjoy visiting.
