Hi Everyone,

I am looking for some advise in regards to South American internal travel.

My daughter has booked an airfare from Brisbane to Bueno Aires in late November. Then picking up a tour out of Lima that ends in La Paz. She was then wanting to travel to Iguassu Falls (Argentina side). The issue is airfares from La Paz seem to be north of $ 800 and can take up to 30 hours via different cities. Final destination is Rio.

Can anyone give advise on what airlines to use and If you can buy an air pass to combat the high one way airfares. Her travel from Brisbane is with Aerolineas Argentinas.

Help would be very appreciated

I think LPB to IGR is pretty tricky to do quickly.

On ITA Matrix I can see LPB-IQQ-SCL-AEP-IGR (4 flights over 23 hours) on LAN plus IGU-GIG on TAM for $434.30 on some days. It does mean crossing the border over land, but only as far as the Igassau airport on the Brazilian side. Over $100 of that is taxes you can't avoid due to the locations. It goes up to >$700 as soon as I try to go IGR-GIG rather than IGU-GIG.

I worked as South American travel consultant for a number of years prior to kids, will private message you later tomorrow. Have 4am start so must sleep now.
