Hi,
I've been trying to use points to fly from Brisbane to Toronto end June returning 7 weeks later. I thought I would use my points to fly 2 pax on the BNE/LAX leg (return). I'm coming up with no availability on either legs that I can use my points. Is there a way I can search what seats are still available on these legs or on the LAX/Toronto legs. No point in using points plus pay though as it is a complete waste of points.

You have posted the question in the Your Question thread. What airline program are you looking to redeem through as you don't provide this in your OP.

New to this - sorry, I'm trying to using Qantas FF points. Also have Velocity Gold membership but only 43,000 points left.

Hi,
I've been trying to use points to fly from Brisbane to Toronto end June returning 7 weeks later. <snip>.

These seats would've been snapped up when released 353 days before they would've been due to depart.

Sadly you're way too late for 2017. If you really want to fly in June try for 2018 and book as early as possible.

For last minute options, CX release seats one month out via HKG direct to YYZ. With a daughter based there, we like coming home this way and go over on EY though EK using QF points a possibility. Flight scheduling to YYZ from LAX often meant doing two internal US legs which we avoid like the plague.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Agree with DaveB, its what we do to go long way around via HKG to USA because QF are too stingy with enough with direct J seat releases to/from USA, couple of times we have however snagged one direct return out of Lax so becomes a circle Pacific.

Keep in mind there is a slather of "direct" flights and award availability on CX to USA cities rather than having to transit if LAX. You could look into buying AS miles to save a bucket of money flying in J as we do, which allows a stopover in HKG too see AS award charts.
