Hi Everyone stumbled on this site after searching for how to book a domestic flight on an A380 shuttling between melb/Sydney? Any idea if this can be done and how?

Cheers K

There may have been some A380 positioning flights between SYD and MEL previously but I don't think they were open for bookings...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Have never seem any A380 AU domestic routes for sale. Many years ago QF used to run the B747 to PER for a limited time

Emirates EK are due to restart SYD-CHC-SYD tag on flight, with the A380, on 27 March. That would be the shortest A380 route in this part of the world. Could do a day trip, if keen and subject to passport/visa etc.

Hi Moet as per above any use of the A380 on the Domestic network is to reposition the aircraft and I have never seen them available for booking.

If your son really wants to fly the A380, it's a great aircraft I have done 159 flights on them, I suggest have a look at Emirates flights out of Sydney to New Zealand where they use the A380.

  • EK412 departs Sydney at 8.45am, to reach Christchurch at 1.50pm
  • EK412 is wheels up from Christchurch at 6.20pm to get you back into Sydney around 7.40pm

Welcome aboard @Moet70

I flew SYD-BNE via AKL on an EK A380 using QF points just for the experience (in F), at the time it was cheaper than a return. Not sure if this is st an option but worth a look

Ideally A380 -my son is obsessed and thought I could try this for the school hols
SYD to Christchurch (CHC) or v.v on Emirates A380 is probably the shortest hop at the moment. They restart on 27 March but NZ fares aren’t cheap at the moment.

Thank you so much really appreciate it!

Strangely, I couldn’t see any economy reward seats over to CHC but quite a few Business and First class seats. Now they would give your son something to talk about back at school!

Especially having a shower in First class...
