I just realised that I have not introduced myself as yet, although have posted a few times.

I have been flying for a number of years off and on, working in with my self employment schedule, means I decide when I go and how many times a year but also means that I can not travel for too long, also means that I pay for all my flights (sometimes I envy those who fly on the companies pay roll). I think in the last 4 years I have been to Europe 7 times and the USA 12 times. Many of these flights were on points, no ff miles or status credits, and paying the add ons such as taxes etc. I read with interest the JASA discussions and realise that I have used the points poorly.

My young daughter lives in Los Angeles, therefore the need to travel there often and originally her mother was from Europe, therefore the need to travel there as well. Preferably we would all like to be together, but with the economy in the US stalling at the moment and the fact that my business here in Australia is going well, there is little choice but to cash in on the economic conditions in Australia and the exchange rate at the moment.

Therefore my interests with respect to flying are with Qantas and AA. I expect to see reach platinum in Q FF and I read with interest some of the posts that mention ways to accumulate miles with AA.

I certainly will reach platinum with Qantas, simply and only because of the useful advice and reading which I have recently done using this site. Thank you to everyone who contributes to this site for making the flying experience of my partner and my young daughter (2 years old) more more enjoyable. I anticipate with the help of this site, my young daughter will have experienced the best of flying as she grows, namely comfortable at least J seats and access to oneworld first lounges, surely making her trips away to Europe, Australia and Asia that much more enjoyable. A far cry from the day long journeys in the back seat of the family car for a week down the coast like when I was here age.

Warm regards to everyone on this site.

As per you second paragraph, always nice when someone else paying. :D

It's a good site with some very knowledgeable people.
