My executive platinum with American has just come through. In two months my QF WP will expire. Means that for time in 14 years my highest tier will be on an airline other than QF.

Ok, so im not going to go back over 83 pages of QF love in this thread ;)

But i thought id look up on QF's website about the different status levels.
Always at 2400 SC we have the options, but now at P1 we get those options again?

Ive always been a good boy and gifted my mum the SG, but id gladly take the 50k too!

So how do you read this table?

I think it's poorly written. Don't think you'll get another chance at PG/50K/Valet etc.

On the upside I think there's definitely space in the lifetime table to sneak in a 28K Platinum Level  :p

What's your split of QF v other one world carriers Timsboot?

Moa99 - I dont have the numbers at hand but your basic point is right. I live in BKK. I could qualify for WP under the old SC regime (including the 4 QF metal flights) but under the new SC partner rules, I cant make it to QF WP. Hence my move to AA

More likely that LTS and LTG will be 'simplified' and 'made fairer'.

Should this occur, it will be a massive and further betrayal and cause significant brand damage.

I'm sitting at around 12,000 SCs and to be honest, with the simpler and fairer changes, once reaching LTG, that will be it for me and QF status. I will probably never aspire to be higher as frankly what's the point? I can obtain status with other programmes and also fly airlines with the best product and price - two things one forgoes if remaining loyal to QF.

Same with me for yearly Status, my annual aim is now Gold instead of Platinum using paid for flights with points paid upgrades rather than JASA as before.
Have also had a few "cheaper" flights with other quality airlines as I can't see the point of paying a lot more anymore and who really cares if I can "only" get into the Business lounge rather than the First Class lounge.
Fairer and simpler for me now.

We have now cracked the 334th page of this subject and i really wonder if someone there in QF is reading this? They now have the "stacked" survey at the end of the tele call now (like Telstra) but it doesn't take a consultancy company to see there are many p!$$ed off frequent flyers. With so many comments the underlying message I'm reading is they have lost or at least eroded customer loyalty across the board, something in my business you try your utmost to build.

I can just picture the Monty Pythonisc Brainstorming session at Mascot - "Building loyalty - the inverted method" or "Loyalty - is it overrated?"

The reality is it works for Qantas.

Those p!$$ed off or leaving are generally either those who fly other oneworld airlines more than Qantas or who predominately purchase the cheapest fares. The changes have just emphasized the loyalty to Qantas part.

For most others I suspect the changes are roughly line ball.

That said it is nowhere near as onesided as Virgin.
Consider Plat member buying $400 flex SYD-MEL vs Red/Bronze on $120 sale fare.

Flex Plat
QF - 1200 pts / 20 SCs
VA - 4000 pts / 20 SCs
Cheep Bronze/Red
QF - 800 pts / 10 SCs
VA - 600 pts / 10 SCs

Qantas FF business is worth drug money, so I think they're pushing profit as hard as they can without loosing too many of their FF members. Once the value of the business is negatively affected, I guess they'll back off.

Its working really well! Big losses, reduction of flights, older aircraft; this will turn them around.... And there is that loyalty word again!

Many people i speak to in Asia have now dropped QF because of the service and the lack of code-sharing. For OW we are using CX or MH.

Maybe its a "swings and roundabout" thing?

Given Qantas's previous focus on Asia as the way forward for the business, it is my opinion that with all the flights withdrawn, down sized and combined with the DXB connection has Killed off any potential growth in Asia.
