Hi all,

I noticed that as a Hawaiin airlines miles member I can pay $15 instead of $25 for a checked in bag.Only available between islands!
I rang support after hrs and they say as I have lodged my Virgin Velocity number instead of my Hawaiin miles number that I am not entitled to $15 checkin bag.
I will be ringing tomorrow to Miles support to clear this stupidity up.
Anyone had this issue?

Can't they just take your Velocity nbr out & put the HA number in?

What's your complete routing of the trip.

Are you flying HA ex Aust to HNL at all? If so HA could probably through check the bag through to your inter-island destination for no charge if it was same day travel as they offer the 2 piece allowance Aust/HNL/Aust.

Nup I rang then for the third time.....The Kona to Honolulu is where the Hawaiian Miles number is needed on the system for cheaper bags.
LAX to MAUI is still $25 with Velocity number.
Could not see checkin times required on website....told 45minutes at LAX?

Don't confuse 45 minutes at LAX for baggage close off as the time you need to checkin..

A lot of US airlines start boarding at T-45 so I'd be checking in 90 minutes prior to allow for a queue at HA checkin & the TSA screening point.

AA & UA want pax in their seats at T-15 as the boarding gate closes at T-10.

What stuff do you have with you that must be checked? Could you travel with HLO.

Plenty of people take their 15-20 kg 'carry-on' to the gate knowing that the airlines with do a 'courtesy check' at the gate ie your bag ends up in the cargo hold gratis.

I watched an AA flight LAX/BOS board recently & noticed they have a bag tag printer at the gate plus a supply of priority tags for the gate checked items.
