Hi,

I'm trying to book some very specific flights, QF9 MEL-LHR then BA462, for some reason this flight is not on offer, even though there is plenty of time to make the connection.

When I try to book using multi city, QF9 doesn't even show as an option and I must use QF1 instead, anyone knows a way to resolve this?

Hi Claudius,

What date are you looking at? I just picked a random date and the option for QF9/BA462 came up ... although it *is* way down the list ....

Interesting, I was looking at 29/7 30/8 on F cabin.
This means a J flight with BA and I know for a fact the cabin isn't full, as I checked in BA.

An airline can restrict sales to certain geographies at times on a per flight basis.

I understand BA might chose to restrict sales of a particular flight to Qantas, however I think the problem is the system artificially limiting the number of options.

This also doesn't answer why if I try a multi city booking on the same days QF9 disappear as an option and I'm left only with a SYD (incidentally, none of those were on A330s) to connect to QF1.

I really think the website is a bit broken.

I tried a similar booking on expedia to that on QF for 29/7 - that doesn't return the BA flight you require either, just the IB flights which QF.com returns.

At first I thought that with the switch of Daylight Savings there could be an MCT issue (especially as 462 moves 15mins earlier) but according to EF, the MCT at T3 is 90mins, so that doesn't explain it either.

I would call QF and ask them for those specific flights - as you can't book it online there should not be an assisted booking fee if it is available.

I had a similar problem booking MEL-SYD-JNB. I called up to get an A330 however when booking online it only showed flights 1hr 40mins to 3hrs for connecting.

Even the guy on the phone had trouble getting me onto QF 400 instead of the 0645 flight. But he managed in the end!

I logged in yesterday to find that all of my 10 bookings and SC's had disappeared. Took a very deep breath, logged out and back in again. Phew! All is well.

After nearly an hour in the phone with QF managed to get the booking just right, however for some reason not at the right cost, they initially wanted to charge me a lot more for this flight than what it would be if I took BA464 according to the website. In the end she managed to book it at the correct price.

I looked at the website again today, the multi city booking is seriously broken, can't see QF9 MEL-LHR regardless of the dates I enter (booking F) instead insists I take QF1 and a connecting flight to SYD, which for some reason beyond me is never on the A330 even when times would make it right.

Furthermore, the LHR-MAD leg offers me one choice, then odd flight combinations instead of the many direct flights it could show.

I would suspect that best revenue options are listed higher unless you ask for a particular sort-order (eg. Sort by Departure time).

My observation is that applying a sort order doesn't re-load results and update for your new preference, rather, it just sorts the list you can already see (ie. the best revenue options) in a new order.
