Robd Jnr will be doing last semester of degree at California Uni entering US on a student visa (J). J Visa's are allowed 30 days travel before and after the start and finish date of their course. We thought we would take advantage, and have three week holiday plans prior to commencement of uni semester. Given robd jnr is a full time student, and I paid for return tickets on my Westpac Gold, I believe my insurance will cover the holiday part of Robd jnr's travel, until I return. The plan is to then get the ICover (or similiar) annual insurance policy which will cover Robd jnr for a further 3 months until back in Oz.

With the ICover policy, the cover is for trips up to 90 days. Any policies over 90 days add a lot more $$$.

I suppose my question is, given the fact that the ultimate reason for travelling to the US is the semester at university, does that have any bearing on either insurance policy, particularly given the US entry on the J visa?

Hi Robd,

Do you have a link to the PDS of the Westpac Gold insurance policy?

We can look into it for you.
