Hi all

I love reading the forum and getting lots of ideas about my travel even though I have posted very little.

Hoping some of the more experienced on here may be able to help

Was just about to book some flights for the weekend as I am 25 status credits short of retaining silver my anniversary date is 31 July.

When I logged into my account and checked it had the following

Current Status Silver
Status reassessment will occur 31 July 2015

I know this probably sounds obvious so this means I have my silver status until 31 July 2015.

If i don't have to rush to take some flights this weekend as my only weekend free before my anniversary that will be a plus.

Your thoughts are appreciated

That reassessment date suggests you have indeed been comped.

Certainly looks like you have been comped. However, it is generally a once only event so if you have the ability to take the flights to retain silver (and it is worth it to you) then enjoy a weekend of flying.

Thank you JohnK was just surprised as only a silver member but is nice just the same can now have a relaxing weekend but then who needs an excuse to hop on a plane and get away for the weekend.

Thanks Hvr good advice will see what the weekend brings just nice to know I don't have to go somewhere.

silver will be useful as travelling to the USA early next year and will have around 8 AA flights so being able to have the baggage allowance is good. As the other half likes to shop lol

Equally have just been comped for my 31-Jul renewal on 1,155 SCs, but will requal in any event.

Don't forget access to Priority Security in the US as well.

Got comped today back to WP after only reaching just over 500 SCs. Have been WP for 5 years straight and already LTG. I figure they want to try to keep me rather than go to AAnother AAward scheme.

Others who have had a comp: I'd be interested to know if your anniversary date was approaching like whereiskym? Perhaps its an unpublicised promotion. I'm PS with a March anniversary and no comp for me. Just curious.

It's been mentioned that if you add up your last 3 years of SC's and then average them out and they at least hit the target, you'll get a comp.

It's normally in the few week weeks before renewal as they work out which colour card to send you. My new Plat card arrived in the mail today.

Way too early to be comped. The first you'll know about being comped is ~8 weeks before reassessment date.

Certainly not expecting it, especially as I'm only 50% of the way to retaining status... but your response JohnK, and that of moa999 and samh004 certainly help explain it. Appreciate you all sharing the knowledge & insights. Thanks.

So if you make P1 then don't earn any other SC you should have a soft landing of 2 years of free plat?
I'm doubtful :)

Given what they've been prepared to do to explicitly stated benefits, I won't be relying much on unwritten rules over a several-year horizon.

Most likely I got it, 5 or 10 SC short with the other Aust dom carrier for VA PS.
Was short about a month of so.
So both airlines do it. Comp up that is.

Checked to surprisingly find also comped PS to 31 July 2015 with 360 status credits made on two 2013 online JASA bookings.
With only 555 lifetime credits, hardly a QF flyer though whittling down an old but substantial QFF points bank in QStore.

Silver is 300 SC to qualify or 250 to requalify so I'd say you got there on your own :)

Did you take 4 flights with those bookings or only two?
