Has QF J food improved to be better than SQ J offering?

I've been thinking about the SQ food that I have been enjoying in J. It always has a broad selection on board, is always well presented on the plate, is served with a smile. The main meal though is often lacking the really really fresh complex flavours of a top meal.

In April I did a QF points upgrade on BNE-HKG to a J seat. Wow, the food offering on that flight, on that day was very, very tasty.

I know I'm working from a very small sample of QF J but it was significantly better.

What do you think? Who has the better tasting food?

On my last QF J flight I thought the food was fantastic, actually the main dish was nicer than I had in F on the way back.

But that's the way it goes with QF, they periodically improve their food offerings, and then it gradually drops back and gets worse again.

We have enjoyed both this year Alby. Mrscove and I are not the biggest fans of Asian inspired "hot chill" style foods so we are very happy with SQ satay as a starter. The raw onion with the satay is something we cannot eat. The main plates on both airlines are ok for us as there is generally really good choices.
Enjoy the new business year that starts in a week.

My last trip on QF J to BKK in March left me very under whelmed by the food.

A few years back when I did QF J to LAX I was quite impressed with the food, so possibly they are not catering as well on the shorter trips?

That said, I've not travelled on SQ J, but have done a few TG, BR, OZ J flights and been quite happy with the food, though a TG breakfast on the way back to Sydney left me a bit queasy.

I did rather enjoy my SQ F meals, but then that's in a whole different league.

This is my inedible meal on J SQ Rome to Sin last night. Fatty, slimy, smelly lamb and undercooked potatoes. Turned my stomach. Sent it back barely touched.
