Trying to claim status credits for finnair flights in December. The reply I got was "Not all economy booking classes are elligible for status credit points to be credited."

I have not come across this for finnair and believe this to be incorrect.

Can anyone confirm or correct my understanding?

Some flights on most Oneworld carriers do not earn Qantas SCs.

I think the confusion is that as others mentioned while all Qantas fares have points and SC's not all one world partners have the same.

Most OW airlines have their cheapest fares as not earning, I don't know if the QF cheapest fares earn on other airlines, if you're a QF member and fly QF they do the right thing.

I have had this with CX discount Y as well, where no points/sc were earned.

In the past, I have flown American Airlines and not received any points or SCs.

This was the case previously, but it changed a couple of years ago so you now earn points/SCs even on deep discount O/Q fares with AA. These things change, so it's good to keep an eye when booking.

Note: Qatar is another whose discount economy (O class) doesn't earn anything with QF.
