GST TRS question

I'm HKG based and with the slide in the AUD, once the GST refund is factored in it is now cheaper to buy an iPhone in Australia. It's also easier to buy since HKG is still flooded by Chinese buyers and grey resellers. I was planning on buying one via Qantas Mall to get the points and save - but since I'm overseas, I would need a sibling/parent to collect it and do the refund then give it to me when I meet them over Christmas here in HKG. So my questions are:

1. Will the TRS be a problem if I pay online with my CC? Or should I use their CC so the receipt has their name on it? I see the Apple website lets me put a different name in the shipping address - so one would think the Apple receipt would print with their name not mine?

2. Can I get QFF from Qantas Mall to my account, but pay with the family member's CC and use their name for it on the Apple website? One would think so since it is based on a cookies system from what I can tell.

Ultimately Q1 is more important - can always do the Qantas Mall through a family member's QFF account, but just wanted to check!

Cheers

Which iPhone are you buying?
They don't all get points.

You can have TRS refunds to a different credit card from the one used to purchase.

Another consideration, if the phone you are purchasing is over $1000, the invoice must state the name of the purchaser. This may well have to match the refunders name at the airport.

If it is under $1000, there is no such requirement

I did not have a problem at BNE last month. Purchase price $1700, Invoice in my wife's business name and charged to my CC.

Refund was processed without an issue

Are there specific exceptions for Apple products ?

I had not heard of this before so presume its in the TnCs. Thanks for the heads up.

Indeed there are, no points on the 6 plus or pre-orders of anything by the look of it.
"Qantas Points may not be offered on newly released product lines. Qantas Points are given for purchase of iPhone 6 as of 27 Sep 14. Qantas Points are not given for purchase of iPhone 6 Plus. Qantas Points are not given on any pre-orders. Starting 24 Oct 2014, the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 are eligible to earn Qantas points."

Simple and fair. Is there a table ?

:)

Conveniently, the iPhone 6 64GB edition is $999.00!
