Griswold’s Road Trip

I'll add that to the list for next time.
I forgot to add that the museum was very interactive, a lot of the aircraft displays included a story from the pilots that flew them and an interactive audiovisual display. For kids there was also a craft room hidden near the toilets in the main hangar.

I realised too late that Bull Durham was mainly filmed in Durham, North Carolina, including at the baseball park, but to be honest probably wouldn’t have gotten a lot of interest from the Griswold’s. Talked to Ellen about it, and should watch it again when we are back due to the quality of the actors involved.

Also couldn’t entice Rusty into visiting the Tobacco Museum at Durham even when I suggested they might give out free cigarettes.

What was meant to be halfway time wise between Durham and Washington DC we stopped at Petersburg for lunch at Shirley’s which is at the Petersburg Hotel.

A nice place to stop, Clark had the fried green tomato panini.

At the end of lunch the waiter said they had accidentally made too many cookie desserts for the table next to us and asked if we wanted it. Who were we to say no?

Photos of a church in Petersburg, the hotel, restaurant and food.

On leaving asked the concierge about ghosts in the hotel due to its age - her response was to say “we have had some incidents”. Enough said!

Im sure a blind eye was turned in the war celebrations.

I have been there in 40 degrees, people do put their feet in. I did too!

But they dont want everybody going full "Forest Gump" and yelling "Jenny" all the time.

Solid
I assume you are doing the Smithsonians and Udvar Hazy?

Doing Air and Space Museum but not Udvar Hazy due to time constraints / recognising the junior Griswold’s quickly get museum overload particularly if of the same variety.

I was reasonably impressed how interested Rusty and Audrey Snr were in the different buildings.
