Griswold’s Road Trip

Ed Gein including a chair of the style he covered with skin, a lock of hair that he had on his key ring (suggested to be his mothers), the prosecutors boom and a portrait of him by John Wayne Gacy. Didn’t take a lot of pictures in the exhibit,

The exhibit was a recreation of his farmhouse over two stories.

John Wayne Gacy including his diary from prison where he recorded everything that he did, on the last page before execution.

The model is one he made in prison of his house to try to prove a witness who described it was wrong.IMG_6727.jpegIMG_6728.jpeg

At 5 we were picked up for our ghost tour on our converted Hearse. They have “popped” the top and you sit above where the coffins would be. Having the junior Griswold’s meant we wanted something “non-walking”, not too late and not too scary. It fit the bill and was a fun tour with an entertaining host who talked non stop for an hour and bit. It was also raining so despite getting the occasional bit of spray we were a lot drier than the walking tours.

Arrived at Orlando after a longish drive, quick dip in the not heated heated outdoor pool for the junior Griswold’s.

Next door to where we are staying is a Twin Peaks restaurant. For the non-initiated (including Clark) it is a “breastaurant” set up to me be more “high class” than Hooters.

As soon as Rusty saw it he was all over going to dinner there like stink on a monkey. Being so close we indulged, and he now wants to eat there every day for every meal having fallen in instant love with our server.

Audrey Snr did ask me at one stage why none of the waitresses have pants that cover their bums properly., was a difficult question to answer.

Dinner for Clark, ribs with Mac and cheese and coleslaw. The Mac and cheese has jalapeño through it and was delicious.

Kennedy Space Centre - just wow. So much history, so much going on currently that I had no idea about and so much fun.

If you want to read an excellent trip report on KSC, you should read @Human report Space Geek Tour of the USA, linked below.

Otherwise a brief commentary on our day below and a selection of photos. But really if you haven’t, you should read @Human s report!

We got there around 10 minutes after opening and were quickly through security. I had accidentally bought these tickets via a ticket reseller website and although the reviews of the business seemed legit it was still slightly nervous on scanning, but all good.

Aside from admission, we had booked the KSC Explore tour which which was a separate bus tour that went to some different stops, being:

1. The Gantry near launch pads 39A and 39B. All buses go there.
2. We were meant to go to the remote camera spot between the launch pads however we couldn’t due to some prep being undertaken for a SpaceX launch so went to the press centre instead.
3. An area near the vehicle assembly building that had the arms that the crews walked over to the space shuttle and some escape vehicles.

Our guide did a good job and answered any questions easily, all in all for the extra couple of dollars it was a good addition..

Some pics from the bus tour including the shuttle arm. The thing under construction is the launch tower for Artemis 3, the launch tower for Artemis 2 currently in the VAB with Artemis 2 attached to it, launching in around a month.
