The Americans can certainly put on a festival. New years is a great time around the States. our son lived in Philly for 2 years so we got to see the New Year day Mummers parade. Crazy.
They have a museum with some of the better costumes.

On to Florence, South Carolina for a one night stop. Although only a bit over two hours split the trip by stopping and stretching the legs on Main Street in Fayetteville. Pretty little strip, most of the shops were closed but picked up a latte from a coffee shop which ended up just tasting like warm milk.

Before hitting the hotel had a late lunch at Dz Pit Bbq just outside Florence. Ellen and I shared the small platter, short rib, brisket, pulled pork, coleslaw and potato salad.

Dinner venue last night, Southern Hops Brewing Company, South Carolina.

Palmetto’s Peddlers markets, Florence South Carolina. 95% of the stalls don’t have staff and you take any purchases up to a counter at the entrance to pay.

And seen "Forrest Gump"...who hasnt?

His bench was a prop and is in the museum there and you can go to the park (Chippewa Square) and sit where it was put for the movie, which is (or was) a garden.bed. All the real benches in the park face into the park, not out to an imaginary bus stop.

Big day in Savannah which coincided with Audrey Snr’s birthday. Both Audrey Snr and Jnr have their birthdays on the trip. After the standard present opening a lazy morning then lunch before heading into downtown. Rusty and I had a date with the Graveface Museum dedicated to serial killers, the occult and true crime and the girls had a date with some relaxing girls time.

Graveface museum, a collection of exhibits from a variety of serial killers / true crimes / cult etc.. I haven’t included any pictures of the more explicit things on display but it’s not your cup of tea skip through the next few posts. Rusty was extremely interested and his useful summary at the end was “they were a bunch of sick dudes”. Apologies to Aileen Wournos who had a small section including a pair of her prison underpants.

He obviously enjoyed it though as he talked his mothers ear off about it when we met up again.

The first section was on roadside or show attractions.
