Hi all, it's been too long between posts for me so I thought I may be of assistance to the group as I have been living in Tokyo since last September. If anyone wants some boots on the ground info or feedback RE: covid-19 please let me know.

Cheers, Dmitri

Konnichiwa! I'm booked on the VA inaugural flight to HND on 29 March but am now in 2 minds about the trip...

Hi mate, there isn't really too much stress in Tokyo currently. There is a major shortage of masks and hand sanitizer and I've noticed more people wearing masks but as per doctor's directions they may not work. I take my son to school every day on the train and we've just increased hand washing and taking his temp daily.

Arigato! Good point about the masks. I guess I'm dragging my feet as I'll need to sit down and start to plan the itinerary and book accommodation...

some attractions are closed so make sure to check before you fly out. If you're coming for something specific you may be out of luck.

Are they expecting the current event cancellations to last past March?

I'm looking at going to some events in Saitama over the first two weekends in May, but I need to get my proxy to acquire an application lotto code and apply for the first event this week.

With the Covid-19 issues, have they done anything to reduce the Tokyo public transport morning peak congestion?

Hi Himeno, companies are finally getting on board with flex work which has helped out but from what I've heard from friends and my wife (we moved here for her job) not all workers are taking advantage of this. Companies are also pushing staggered start times to try and alleviate the peak hours. I use Ebisu station 4 times a day which is on the yamanote line (largest ring road train line in tokyo) and I have noticed a downturn in people over the last 7-8 days. Shibuya and Shinjuku are always busy.
