I have great faith in the collective IQ hidden on this board.
My problem - I am flying to Greenland for a 4 week stint on an offshore rig and was wondering if anyone could suggest the best way to get there using Qantas or One world airlines. I am a silver QF FFlyer.
I don't think GLand is a popular destination except for Inuits. I think the only way there is on a Dash 8 from Denmark (4 hrs) as GLand is some sort of protectorate of Denmark. So any suggestions on how to get to Denmark would be greatly appreicated.

I was thinking of QF to Singapore then Finnair to Helsinki & then to denmark from there.
All suggestions greatfully accepted.

Hi svstrider,

You have pretty much hit the nail on the head. The best way is with QF to either SIN or HKG, then AY to HEL and on to CPH. You are correct that connections into Greenland are very limited and most of them fly out of CPH. Where, specifically, in Greenland do you want to go? I'm not experienced there myself, but have a good Canadian friend who is a frequent traveller there. I can get info from him.

Cocitus 23.

Pretty much the only way to get to Greenland is via Air Greenland from Copenhagen or Reykjavik @ Iceland.

If u can, you can try Singapore Airlines to CPH via SIN. It should be faster that way. Of course it is not OW but *A option, but at least you can buy striaght return ticket to CPH that way.

Update to my OP. Higher food chain people want me to fly to Aberdeen, Scotland then fly on to Greenland from Scotland. I have asked to fly OW thru HK or Singa but I have a terrible feeling that they will buy me a ticket on Emirates via Dubai direct to Aberdeen. This is a 27 hr flight Ho Hum I will have a 70 min lay over in Dubai.

I will try and pay for the difference to go on OW to London via Singa

Who flies to Greenland from Scotland. Was this a private charter? I was in Greenland in May/June and Kangerlussuaq was the only entry point via Denmark or some eastern towns via Iceland (with the exception of the Nuuk-Reykjavik flight they seasonally started last summer). The coughpit door was a little weird tho! airgreenland.jpg

Correct Flew Titan Airlines on a Boeing 737 which is a charter company. Landed in Kangerlussuaq then in Dash 7 to Disco Bay and the thriving metropolis (NOT) of Assiaat.

Unfortunately there was no liquor service and alcohol was just a dream for the next month.
