I am a QANTAS Platinum One member and some months ago decided to burn 3 million points for my grandkids to take them to Disneyland. All (15 with parents) flying in Premium Economy - However, 3 seats booked for my wife and I and one son in Business as this will be his last 2 flights on this earth as his condition is terminal and we were able to obtain seats in Row 12 which I think are the best in a 380.
As "a go" I decided to see if I could upgrade to First, knowing that 3 upgrades on this flight would be almost impossible.
However, I received a call from the Platinum some 2 months ago saying that they thought it would be really hard but would keep an eye on it under the circumstances - they would ring me a week before and let me know how it was going and with that I forgot about it.
However, today, 1 week before departure, a telephone call from the Platinum Team just telling me that because of loading it would be really impossible. Now I never expected to receive the upgrade, however, I even doubted to hear about it again.
But one is ever so grateful that they had diarised this little matter and took the trouble to keep an eye on it and then take the time and trouble to tell me it was not possible.
I am ever so grateful for their efforts and just want to acknowledge through this site the willingness to walk the extra mile for a young man who never will be able to fly again and will never be able to offer any revenue.
Its times like this that one sits back and acknowledge the generosity of our fellow Australians and in this case the thoughtfulness of the Platinum team
So thank you "team", well done and thank you on behalf of my family for the ongoing consideration.
